This is so interesting. I had a feeling this would happen back in 2022 when it's original contract was novated due to CT Plus being dissolved.

The space at AW is probably required for further Electrification bare in mind the W12 PVR goes up. Overall moving the 20 to T makes sense as there is a larger pool of double deckers.

I was thinking the exact same. I wonder if 616 will move across or whether that will stay at AW. There was talk about extra EVs for the 180 in the recent tender award...

Might be imagining this but is the 20 already on some of the latest blinds at T?

Is that happening to all future LTs being refurbished, or is this one being simply tested? I posted on Saturday about this but couldn’t find where I had seen it mentioned previously until now. BW has started type training drivers on the new tech so the route 8 examples must be going mirrorless soon. This had started to happen at [CT] with some of the buses also being converted

Not really- 3 electrics out on it Last night (Thursday) the route operated with 100% Diesel buses. There must be some sort of issue at NS I am thinking? What is odd to me is that not so long ago there has been a 100% EV runout on the route but has changed this week. May have had a few breakdowns during and day, thus reducing the availability of electrics for the night service. Probably see less diesels on the N86 when the 247 converts to electrics

Route 165 is becoming somewhat of a safety concern now, currently on 19726 which is packed upstairs and down and also downstairs there is no standing room (gives you an idea of how busy the 165 is which normally uses single deckers!!) we also left people behind in Elm Park because the bus is so full. the single decker behind running right behind it is full to the door as well . The double deck I’m on is so full that people are falling out of the rear door when the door opens. TFL really need to do something about this, the 365 in front of us (double deck) is packed full as well which follows the 165 between Romford Market & Romford Station and between Abbs Cross & South Street (Beam Park) Towards Romford is one of the 9.6m E200s on the 165 which is full and has only just started its journey going past South Hornchurch. I wonder why it's even allocated single deckers if the route can get this busy? I mean if it is capable of taking double deckers and the route has no areas where length is necesssarily an issue, then it should definitely be decked. Unless it just tends to be a route that is only busy sometimes at some parts of the day. For example, the D6 is often quite a busy route during its peak times, but during the weekends and quieter times during the weekdays, it's clear why's a single decker service sometimes. I hope it's retained with double decks, either brand new electrics or perhaps some Smart Hybrids from the 241, 330 or 474! The 165 is allocated single deckers for a reason. Apart from a few peak journeys and at school time, the route does not carry loading's that warrant a double decker.

Surely it's better to focus on ensure a full run out of electric buses for the day 86? There could be other issues such as drivers not being type trained who might be covering duties.
It's probably a temporary blip and the night service will probably go fully electric eventually.

But isn't the W14 effectively becoming the withdrawn route? With its number pretty much recycled onto the current 549 routing. So while the W14 itself would lose 10.9m vehicles, it should lose most of its patronage as well. Not necessarily as the W14 bit that’s moving over will pretty much be covered by the new W12, so if people cotton onto the change up quickly it probably won’t lose all the customers with it. And the very section that the existing W14 will be replaced with will be with 8.5m vehicles. It will be especially prevalent given it will temporarily run with 9.7m vehicles while the changes are ‘bedding in’, and then when passengers are used to the new changes they’ll notice shiny, but tiny new buses on the route (good rhyme🤣), it probably won’t go down well as it will be very noticeable to passengers It won't go down well when they are left behind at bus stops cannot get on a packed bus and then a longer journey to Walthamstow than previous.

Well, after so many years the route passed its door step and not operated from [T] Over the years Stagecoach did bid for the 20 but was unsuccessful on many occasions and now only inherited it after purchasing CT Plus. Even down to when [L] closed the routes were initially going to be bid to run from [T] but unsuccessful with Eastern National winning the lot.
