RATP ADE40410 12 13 18 Now at WH to take up the 173 til Electrics arrive Will the 173 be operated from WH, or are just ADEs just there for storage? I thought BK or RM would be more suitable (with RM enabling a shared allocation with the 174), though WH is not far from Beckton.

BK are confirmed to be getting it now, half the forecourt is dug up now so would be a very expensive change if they decide to put it somewhere else I don't think RM could fit in the 173 without something moving out, WH could fit it in but I don't think would be as effective as BK who are close to both ends as opposed to just one end. I do wonder where they'll have their changeovers though as they could have them at Lodge Avenue, KGH or even Beckton.

I would have opted for RM to run the 173 on the basis of having a common fleet of electrics with the 174, RM is not far from the 173 at Dagenham. To make space, the 86 could have moved to WH, to fill the large amount of space available there, with a few RM routes then going to NS. However I suppose it might be strategic to have charging infrastructure at more garages to allow for future tenders with electrics.

RM as a garage is in a very uncompetitive area, with GY being the only competition who are outside the London boundary. BK however is in the same town at RR and DX and the 179 could also have competition from NP, AW and LI so having BK wired up to fend off any competition especially before RR and DX get infrastructure will be a huge bonus for them upon tender. Just three tender results for Stagecoach have got half of their garages in East London wired up now.

Can't see it being at the Thatched House, there's no facilities whatsoever, not even a cafe for drivers to sit in

Judging by the current 173 schedule which already has 3 peak spreadovers on a weekday and with fewer buses used on a Saturday as well as Sundays than on a weekday which means I wouldn't be surprised if most of the 173 changeovers do end running back to BK as it would give more opportunities to recharge a bus during the day if needed.

Late running buses could also curtail at Chadwell Heath, Becontree Heatb or even Ripple Road and run dead back to BK for any (seriously) late running changeovers.

It's actually going to be weird seeing the 173 with Stagecoach as i've grown up with that route even from Grey Green days but I trust stagecoach will do well with it. To think that bus used to go to Stratford back in the 90s.

Look at Tender 26 and 86 Tranche. Yes the 86 (& the 26) already got two year contact extensions and as for the 62, 145 & 366 they also get two year extensions so you'd be waiting for a while for a another BK to get electrics as there isn't much out for tender in East London for 2021 other than few school routes.

Thanks mate. Looks waiting for while now East London next tenders another Year to come. At least East London will be receiving some brand new electrics with the 69, 173 and 174 to keep us occupied meanwhile.
