Simple solution sell house and move why should a route have reduced capacity because of selfishness. If houses are being damaged it would be nigh on impossible to sell them anyway, this debate is ridiculous. Any chance of getting back to Stagecoach? Maybe a new thread can be started for the 165?

Just love all these people advocating the state crushing the little man. If you guys are thinking of going into politics, reckon there will be a position opening up in Russia in the next few months, failing that, you could run for Mayor of London.
Not saying the overall position is correct or not, but the way it is presented is definitely wrong.

Amazing how the NIMBYs didn't get any cracks in their houses when Titans, Metrobuses, Fleetlines and Atlanteans were in charge around Abbey Wood Lane Stupid residents, I hope TFL do not back track, the 165 desperately needs DD’s speak to the passengers that actually use the route it can be a cattle bus sometimes and they even miss stops due to being too full at times. I wrote a complaint about the opposite to this stating the 165s were severely over capacity and needed double deckers a few weeks ago so it’s nice to see TFL actually act upon a complaint about capacity though I know I am not the only one and there have been others that have also complained about overcrowding on the route. Whilst I’m in agreement with you, the article is from 2021 and was posted on here at the time by someone as I remember it being discussed. The residents proposal was ignored (rightfully IMO) and it pertained to affect both the 165 and the already double decked 287 either by demoting the 287 to single deckers or removing one route from Abbey Woood Lane Estate.

Oh I see I thought it was more recent and today. Phew, happy TFL had sense to ignore it.

A big song and dance is being made about the 165 but as I said earlier let’s not forget the reason it’s going double decker is purely convenience to release buses. Let’s see how passengers adapt and if they make use of both decks. I expect downstairs to continue to be busy.

Be under no illusion, the 165 being decked is for now a temporary measure because of Stagecoach gaining the 310. It is entirely possible that the same single deckers may come back to the 165 if and when it is tendered for late September next year. The ironic thing about it is the 165 saw a fair few DDs during Covid, and complaints weren't launched then when the extra capacity allowed for better social distancing. This article is dated a few months after the last lockdown, so clearly residents pick and choose when vehicle type is an issue. In any case, TfL would have done their route tests and assessed if double deckers are safe to go down Abbey Wood Lane. They get a lot of flack sometimes but safety in operations is one thing TfL are bastions of.

Their position is absolutely ridiculous.
Thousands of double deck buses go past people's houses in London everyday.
These houses are not crack ridden.
If they don't want double decks they need to come up with a credible reason.

I doubt trainees would be driving so reckless they could cause cracks. Going way off topic here but trainees drivers generally seem to drive really well considering they are new and being instructed.

The Crack could refer to cocaine I doubt an 11,000 kg bus would cause that much damage unless people have the same silly NIMBY attitude of people being able to look into their gardens / windows from the top deck? Either TfL direct the route away from the estate or Havering Council (although broke) repair or strenghten the roads if deckers cause that much of an issue

People buy a property next to the railway, then complain about trains going past their kitchen window.
