A number of 74-reg Streetdeck Electroliners, 82065-82, have been listed on Bus Lists on the Web. Interesting, can't wait to see the electroliners on the 257! Although it will take a long time as the garage is yet to be electrified. Are these definitely the 257 batch?

If they are the delivery timescale for Electroliners right now is amazing, you get BZL which are the polar opposite, the 58/277 batch started getting registered nearer to when the first 24 reg buses came out yet a couple are going to be 74 reg which is ludicrous whereas the majority of over 100 ES for Arriva all managed to get 24 reg with 4-5 getting 74 reg and they were all registered in a 2 month window.

I'd assume so. 18 buses for route 257 is a good fit. The next route down the line is the 169 and that requires around 3 buses less.

Are these definitely the 257 batch? Yes, AFAIK no other Electroliners are currently on order I believe (but I stand to be corrected here) that there are no more confirmed Electroliner orders for any operators in London apart from Metroline's ones.

We’ll definitely see some more upcoming though I think, I’ll be very surprised to not see the 270 and 337 end up with them

Are these definitely the 257 batch? I'd assume so. 18 buses for route 257 is a good fit. The next route down the line is the 169 and that requires around 3 buses less. Although the 169/247/287 all renew on the same day so could be ordered in any order. 247's the only one to have seen multiple electrics already so could be prioritised, alternatively it could use the 257's batch for a while so could be at the bottom of the pile. Anyway I'd probably say with about 95% certainty the 247 will get Electroliners, but the other two 33.3% each for Electroliner, BZL and new ADL vehicle.

Seen both single decks on the 165 at various times today all of the times both SDs have been completely full near to the door, even driving last stops I think TFL will be getting a few complaints today as various passengers at stops have complained about the single decks return , at this point they’re causing their own issues they know SDs aren’t suitable… Today it’s 36603 and 36607 on there! But Yh, the double decker 165’s are literally packed during rush hour! Idk how these single deckers would have coped!

Seen both single decks on the 165 at various times today all of the times both SDs have been completely full near to the door, even driving last stops I think TFL will be getting a few complaints today as various passengers at stops have complained about the single decks return , at this point they’re causing their own issues they know SDs aren’t suitable… Today it’s 36603 and 36607 on there! But Yh, the double decker 165’s are literally packed during rush hour! Idk how these single deckers would have coped! But it seems they did. If the overcrowding was that bad then I am surprised local media never picked up on this as they love stories like that. Not 100% sure but I believe an order of Electroliners was made for the 257 - the 18 buses certainly fits the 257’s TVR exactly.

We are aware of this, notably we are bringing attention to the fact the 165 has literally boomed with passengers even more since decker conversion! There have actually been appeals over the years including MPs getting involved with complaints that the 165 simply does not cope with single deckers, those like myself that use the route regularly continue to hope that the route will be decked for good. It’s all well and good saying if the 310 wasn’t decked it would remain SD however what’s come from the conversion is more passengers using the 165 filling both decks, people not being left behind at stops. Everyone is aware of the reason it got the allocation it did, this isn’t news to us.

Plenty of SD routes (including the 165) are regularly overcrowded, and have no restrictions on using DDs. But it's up to TFL, not the operators, to specify DDs when retendered. Of course the 165 is currently up for tender, so it is possible DDs could be used for the next contract, but other busy routes like the 355 have been retendered with SDs again.
