What you need to do is speak to someone from your constituency about this situation. An example I can think of from memory was the 78 when Val Shawcross was campaigning for the route to be a double decker. She was doing this since the late 2000s and by 2011 it was done. So you might be in this for the long run my friend. Get the right people making the noise and things will move. And IIRC something similar happened with the 343 which led to the 136 being extended to Elephant & Castle. I can’t imagine how frustrating and even deterring it must be for passengers when the SDs are constantly leaving them behind despite zero physical restriction on the route. The 343 was so chronic that it was leaving people behind with double deckers on an 7-8 minute frequency!!

I don’t think whether the 165 is decked or not has any impact on the 316 or 195, I can’t comment on either as I don’t regularly use the routes but I can talk for the 165 and I think it should keep its allocation in f double deckers. Also not one for the Stagecoach thread but for the me the 195 is at the very top of the priority list for deckers tbh. The overcrowding on that route is so chronic it’s ridiculous. For a 12-minute frequency single deck route to hit 5 million pax per year (as the 195 did in 2018/19) is absolutely insane, it’s completely unprecedented

The 343 was so chronic that it was leaving people behind with double deckers on an 7-8 minute frequency!! Now it's the 136 which has developed the higher patronage level. Wouldn’t read into that too much though. The 136 was a busy route even before its extension so all that happened was 343’s usage numbers over that infamous section being shared, which resulted in more numbers being added into the 136’s already high figure

Oh yeah it definitely has, but often most conversions will stick permanently. I’m pretty sure the 165 will do here too. I do remember it going to DM around the time that the Olympic works was being carried out

This is a 165X serving just Romford because it’s too packed after that to take anyone between Romford and Hornchurch, it may stop at Hornchurch if people get off but might still be full, it’s like a lucky dip.After that it’s non stop to Rainham, Elm Park passengers will be skipped on its alight only journey. On a serious note the buses ether side of this are going to be busier than normal as 9.6m can barely take a portion of the 165 demand, yesterday both the single deckers ended up running behind a DD most of the day, I can see the same happening today.
