I'm sorry but 9 times out 10, the driver doesn't say anything and when they do, the speakers on most of the buses aren't good meaning you can't clearly hear the driver Quite right. I very rarely used the PA when I was driving during the iBus days - I preferred to let the brutes work it out for themselves. But that’s beside the point. It seems a bit wasteful to pay for technology to do something that the driver is perfectly capable of doing for free. It would be easier to have a system that you know is sending out information to passengers automatically rather than ensuring every driver is stating information to passengers, although I still don't see how Artificial Intelligence is involved here

The new Ibus system is currently being trailed on routes 53,86 and 241. It’s basically just and updated ibus screen with Ai inputs. What does it need AI for? The system already knows where it is. Does it recommend places to eat or something? It is for it to give various instructions to the driver to hold etc. for headways.

If it is AI, how does it learn the passengers requirements? You can see the only inputs coming from the operating companies. If this happens will just lead to a further deteriorating passenger experience. Hopefully if will involve some scanning of the CCTV systems to see how many passengers will be impacted by decisions, and not to hold/curtail buses just before important destination points but at them. The logic of holding a bus a few stops from where over half those on board want to disembark never ceases to puzzle me in regards to providing a good passenger experience.

Easy answer in future for drivers. When queried by passengers why they can’t continue with their journey they can reply “computer says no”.

Let's hope the computer sometimes tells the controllers (if they still exist) the computer says no.

Route 165 & 287 are curtailed to Rainham, Tesco due to a fatal collision at New Road (Chandlers Corner Junction) due to anti-ULEZ people breaking the traffic lights. anti-ULEZ people have also targeted Cherry Tree Lane junction where the 165/365:372 cross the 103, I’ve seen near crash misses there already, they have also torn down a light at Dovers Corner junction with none of the lights working, cars still soeeeing across both areas as well. Major delays on the 372s as well beyond Rainham Tesco. Whatever anyone's view on the ULEZ zone and charging, endagering the safety of the general public by the deliberate damaging, tampering with or destruction of essential road safety equipment such as traffic lights can never be condoned. If it is known who was reponsible for the damage to the traffic light which resulted in the fatal coliision at Chandlers Corner Junction, that person or persons should be arrested and charged with manslaughter.

And why post this in the Stagecoach thread? www.romfordrecorder.co.uk/news/24681094.upminster-road-north-rainham-crash-child-hospital/?ref=rss&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Thank you for your quite abrupt reply, always appreciate people who like to dig others! I mentioned it here as it affects Stagecoach routes Secondly, I’m told there was a fatality, should it not be then that’s some good news in a. Terrible situation. Regardless of whether there was a fatality or not it’s a very sad situation and the lights not being in operation would have had some impact on the situation. Thanks once again for your snappy reply back and don’t bother wasting your time responding to me like that in the future, thanks Can I offer some constructive feedback? You do tend to jump to the worst case scenarios and go charging off making assumptions about things without even coming up for air. Sometimes let the dust settle and see how things play out.
