Bit difficult for anything hybrid or electric to stray on to these routes when we don’t have anything suitable to do so! 😉 Although the 146 was a double decker route in the past….. On a more serious note though when the B14 electrics arrive I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a stray, maybe late at night. A late night rare stray isn’t beyond the realms of possibility at TB - that was usually the case when a Citaro appeared on the 61 Are the 146 & 336 restricted to single door buses? I was thinking if the 314s batch could stray? The 124 & 273 at TL can only use single door buses so will be interesting to see how it will work once the 225 joins running with dual door e200s. The 336 most definitely is… if you think anything longer than a 9.0m MMC can get round Downham & Bellingham estates then you’re either on the powder or had a few too many aperol spritz 😂 TB drivers can barely pass each other in them MMCs let alone a longer bus hence why Bromley bound buses deviate on the Downham estate. 146 would be due to Downe which is very tight country lanes

A tad surprised that AW have been stricter with their EVs over LI. Would of expected strays to happen on the W16 & W19 by now! Maybe it is due to the length of the W11s buses? The W19 has seen Enviro 200's longer than the current W11 electrics used on multiple occasions. Electric strays tend to be much rarer.

As others have mentioned though, the 146 used to be a double deck route and I have seen a double decker (an ex Go-Ahead London WVL) somehow make it to Downe as recently as 2019! I still to this day wonder how it made it in there with all the low trees.

The advantage of keeping the EVs on the W11 could be that it runs right past AW versus the W19 which runs much further away from the garage should a vehicle encounter issues.

let understand W12 getting BZL SDs and 314 getting E100mmc swapping buses I know what it says but I am more shocked at the idea being proposed. Why would you want to downgrade a route from 10.2m vehicles to 8.8m ones… Would love to see the punters faces and the complaints if this ever happened. The suggestion seems more like a selfish act than an actual solution Imo. Overall like the 233 shame that longer buses have not been specified. 9.6m vehicles would be more suitable for both 233 & W12. I remember when routes (291) 386 410 450 484 B13 P13 R11 were all once single door now all using dual door 9.6m sized vehicles these sized vehicles were also available in Dart SLF as the 100 had those when Stagecoach ran it. No different to the 233 & W12 which could potentially use them. I could add other routes since Low floor buses were introduced like the 380 C10 B12 B15 P5 now using dual door 10.2m once allocated 8.9m vehicles I am sure there are plenty more. maybe W12 picking up more passengers it's shame W12 not getting E100mmc

Yes and if one was to even go on the 336 I imagine it would be immediately refused by multiple drivers. The only single decker route at TB to ever receive a stray from my knowledge from Route 314 has been Route 227. Route 225 will be no different to Routes 380 & P4 which were victimised for many years of 8.9m strays especially on Sundays P4 was definitely the worst offender and 178 when it was there but P4 was the worst… even worse under the Dart SLFs. I wouldn’t be shocked if the 181 273 284 fleet all gain new blinds with 225 to allow flexibility as KB fleet regularly float between KB & TL as a bonus the existing KB blinds shoved into the remaining 380 buses at PD that don’t have 181 & 284 on them... 36623 has new blinds - saw it yesterday in Lewisham whilst driving. It remains to be seen as to whether it includes 225 as the 356 batch all received new sets earlier in the year for 181 and 284. 36692 has also been reblinded with 225, 246 added and 178 & P4 removed. I wonder whether (New Cross) Surrey Canal Road is on the blinds for 225 as a turning point since it desperately needs it.

It never gets old being a local of the route 😅 The Esteem (or sprytes since it was a revival due to specifications) managed okay by passing more on the kerb, but the MMCs certainly aren’t suited much due to them being so wide which means majority of the bus is on the pavement passing each other. Still lovely buses though, 36619 is a fave.

A friend took his 10.2m bus down the R8 and coped just about fine but that was obvs after peak and had to make sure on LVF one wasn’t coming towards which was fine as it was infront. So it can work, but deffo wouldn’t put it in the 146’s spec’s as it’s not needed as mostly carries air out of peaks.

View Attachment Petition for W12 to use the Electric MCVs instead of 314 and W12s intended buses to go onto 314 to form a common allocation with the B14. The MCVs do have W12 on the blinds interestingly What petition? This is just playing around with the displays at the Bromley Garage open day, surely?

Even high-capacity single-deck types such as SMS or LS were considered too long and wide for the route. My understanding is that crew operation was retained as the capacity of a double-decker was needed for schools traffic. By April 1978 this had declined sufficiently to allow driver-only conversion with 39-seater BLs.
