Bit difficult for anything hybrid or electric to stray on to these routes when we don’t have anything suitable to do so! 😉 Although the 146 was a double decker route in the past….. On a more serious note though when the B14 electrics arrive I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a stray, maybe late at night. A late night rare stray isn’t beyond the realms of possibility at TB - that was usually the case when a Citaro appeared on the 61 The 146 operated RTs (and latterly RMs on Sunday) until 1978, but nothing wider and longer such as DMS or T. Even high-capacity single-deck types such as SMS or LS were considered too long and wide for the route. My understanding is that crew operation was retained as the capacity of a double-decker was needed for schools traffic. By April 1978 this had declined sufficiently to allow driver-only conversion with 39-seater BLs. I'm pretty sure LS's appeared on the 146 years ago but certainly no OPO double deckers.

The Stagecoach Solo's won't be turning up anywhere else in the future!
From LOTS Online News
The demise of Stagecoach London's Optare Solo fleet is confirmed, the last working recorded on LVF being on 5th October. They are now in the process of being towed away from West Ham garage (WH) for scrap.

I think between 1982 and it being won by Crystal it used LS's.

Never got to ride those buses, but always have seen them around the W12, W5, etc. Still surprised that W9 is the last route to be offically allocated with them

The 146 is not physically restrained from longer vehicles, but does not need anything bigger than a 9.0m E200 for capacity reasons. In Metrobus days, a bus cross linked from the 358 (running 78) to do an early journey in to Bromley, and these were scheduled to be 9.8m darts, but Lynxes occasionally covered this as well. Was a very interesting journey!

Apart from the two of the ex 309 batch (47992 & 47995) that are still alive and in normal service use after they were recently bought by Bus Link, Burton-on-Trent.

Just reading the Enviro 200EV spec. How long are the buses that run on the W12 right now? Can it take 9.9m buses?

It can take the slightly longer Enviro 200s from the W19, however, the route was only cleared for longer vehicles once the tender had been awarded on the basis of Enviro 100EV length vehicles and an order to meet the tender specification was placed.

Saw the new E100 EV demonstrator for London, and I must say I was in SHOCK. It makes the Metrocity look far bigger compared to it, it looks like a literal minibus, and the interior is REALLY SMALL, but very nice. I am very concerned as to how they will perform on the W12!

I did try telling people it is the equivalent of a van. The wheels are smaller than a lot of cars 17.5", and can't imagine ride quality will be great.

Would Mellor Stratas ever be on the cards for a TfL route or would it be against tender specs? I believe some routes in Manchester went from Solos to these

Happy to be corrected as far from certain.

How many EVs are due in total for LI (W13 & W14) & AW for the W12?
I asked earlier if these new buses are suitable to stray onto unallocated routes?
