Would Mellor Stratas ever be on the cards for a TfL route or would it be against tender specs? I believe some routes in Manchester went from Solos to these If the Strata was ZE emissions they would be pretty comparable, but do not believe the Strata is currently available in anything other than diesel power ... Happy to be corrected as far from certain. Mellor also offer a product named the Sigma - this is an EV bus that comes in lengths between 7.1m and 12m I believe (spec here). This makes it a flexible option for routes of all size requirements in London. Only issue I'd find is if the range is inadequate for a demanding London schedule where routes run for 18 hours or so.

Used to offer ... was dropped as part of the last financial reorganization. Besides it was just a rebadged Chinese import ... sure another company has the licence now ... Try and find out which. Seems German company Oktocar now has the licence from Wisdom Motor to distribute the vehicles in Europe

The Stagecoach Solo's won't be turning up anywhere else in the future! From LOTS Online News The demise of Stagecoach London's Optare Solo fleet is confirmed, the last working recorded on LVF being on 5th October. They are now in the process of being towed away from West Ham garage (WH) for scrap. End of an era! Never got to ride those buses, but always have seen them around the W12, W5, etc. Still surprised that W9 is the last route to be offically allocated with them Solos were quite fun to drive - go kart-y, but I never drove them in service. Compared to MRLs, RBs an SRs they were a much better bus, although a Dart was superior in every way.

I believe some routes in Manchester went from Solos to these They did indeed, quite a lot of the Rochdale routes have got these vans (don’t know why they’re called Mellor when they’re Mercedes Benz 😆) Mercedes Benz supplies the running gear, but the bodywork is built and fitted out in Rochdale and the vehicles are marketed by Mellor. Andy Burnham visited the factory recently to view the latest Stratas being built for Tranche 3 services (starting in January) and was keen to emphasise that the buses are manufactured locally, especially given recent controversy over vehicles being imported from abroad and ADL laying off employees.

We managed a full electric allocation yesterday on the Nightbus and only 1 rounder was a diesel bus on the whole yesterdays 86 service. Impressive stuff 😀

While I was at HK, I managed to drive all of OS 1-27 at least once, and not just round the yard. However, 25 were in TfL service, the other 2 not so. Any guesses? Will answer tomorrow if anyone is interested.

I was just looking at the October fleet list and noticed that 12078 and 12079 have been sent from Stagecoach North East to "Misc (PD)" and "Misc (WH)" Respectively as Donor Vehicles. I wonder what the plan is with these buses.

I think it was the shuttle that ran between Guys & St Thomas's Hospital that CT Plus operated IIRC?
