Arriva's garage strategy is curious: there's always one that is being scaled down or mothballed at any given time. I'm up in Newcastle for work, and my hotel is across the road from Arriva's former Jesmond base. I have wondered what their strategy is with garages for years. They certainly like moving routes around, the 318 has been at more than 4 garages since Arriva took the route from First. As regards Stamford Hill, surprised the 243 doesn't also run from there when its new order arrives, considering it's wired up for electrics, but is full of hybrids instead Route 243 was traditionally SF, but moved to AR in 2 stages in 1981. EDIT : Because Newcastle and Woolwich are both Arriva, GA & Stagecoach dominated, I sometimes consider Newcastle as Woolwich-on-Tyne and Woolwich to be Newcastle-on-Thames.

I wonder how they would do with the 123, the DW's are getting tired. HV188 is an interesting addition to Tottenham. Wondering if they plan to bring in the 14 reg's and refurbish the G3 HVs for Grays? ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) I am back there one more week, at least their blinds are more descriptive than ours and the majority work ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Some of the 279s vehicles ES51 - LV24VSA ES52 - LV24VSC ES53 - LV24VSD ES54 - LV24VSE ES55 - LV24VSF ES56 - LV24VSG ES57 - LV24VSJ ES58 - LV24VSK ES59 - LV24VSL ES60 - LV24VSM ES61 - LV24VSN ES62 - LV24VSO ES63 - LV24WUB ES64 - LV24WUC ES65 - LV24WUD ES66 - LV24WUE ES67 - LV24WUG ES68 - LV24WUH ES69 - LV24WUJ ES70 - LV24WUK ES71 - LV24WUL ES72-84 still yet to be confirmed. A few more to add to your list from LVF ES74 - LV24WUP ES76 - LV24WUT ES77 - LV24WUU These are unconfirmed: but ES72 -WUM, ES73 -WUO, ES75 -WUR should be those (WUN and WUS aren't used in regs) ES78 onwards will be yet another different suffix, LV24WUY onwards belong to Volvo cars

Folks is there anything going on around Ilford Lane. The SL2 seems to be going through South Park Drive and I've just seen an EL1 as well.

TfL has forgotten the new SL2 😉 ILFORD LANE, ILFORD: Routes 169 and EL1 are on diversion between Ilford Sainsburys/Chapel Road and Barking Station via Winston Way, Green Lane, South Park Drive and Longbridge Road due to a road traffic collision. Buses towards Barking are not serving stops from Dudley Road to Longbridge Road. Buses towards Ilford are not serving stops from Longbridge Road to Bengal Road.

In fairness though, the SL2 has no stops on the section being missed out.

There seems to be holes in the three letter alphanumeric combos that the DVLA don’t use, along with the second letter of the location code (LV) never being the same as the last of the three letters, eg L V24WU V will never be issued. In exactly the same whenever a list of registrations starts at DAA, there’s usually a very consistent pattern of DA A/O/U DB O/U/V/X/Y/Z, DC E/F/O/U/V/X/Y/Z, DD A/E/F/J/K/L/N/O/U/X/Y/Z DEU only DFA ….. I’m not sure why they do it like that, and that’s not an ‘as gospel’ rule either, just seems to be a pattern that’s consistently followed*. The LX59s, LX61s and SN61s all have this selected list of letters (*the only exception is SN62, if you look at all the SN62 buses issued there are holes everywhere with no pattern followed at all)

They were all on diversion away from Ilford Lane on Thursday as well. The SL2 I was on played the "this bus is on diversion" announcement before leaving Barking Station, even though there are no stops served.

As an example, someone called David Oliver Aston might want to buy the registration DA24 DOA. Any number can be used so long as it does not make the vehicle appear newer than it was when first registered, so a car registered in October 2022 cannot have 23, 73 or 24 but could be, for instance, DA68 DOA if our said David was born in 1968.

I'm sure certain select reg's like (MUM, DAD, CFC, AFC) are kept aside by DVLA. Back on topic, DW464 without DB company vinyls, out on the 123 this morning ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Back in Newcastle, a few of the Arriva buses here still have DB Company vinyls still on, quite surprising as I would have expected more around Sunderland HQ to have been done ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) a lot of new logo / old Interurban livery stuff happening up here too ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)
