A few central London changes ideas, mainly linked to Oxford Street pedestrianisation. I don't envy TfL planners.... 2 - diverted via Edgware Road to Marylebone and onto a suitable stand around the vicinity of Lords Cricket Ground/St John's Wood 6 - diverted at Hyde Park Corner to terminate at South Kensington via existing 414 LoR 7 - withdrawn between Marble Arch and Oxford Circus. Extended to Old Oak Common station when it opens. Rerouted to take existing 23 LoR between Westbourne Grove and Ladbroke Grove. N7 - extended to Victoria and Rayners Lane 9 - frequency increased to 8bph 13 - withdrawn between Portman Square and Victoria. Night service withdrawn. N13 - new route between Victoria and North Finchley via Edgware Road and 13 LoR 14 - diverted to Warren Street (unless British Museum pedestriansation is dropped) 22 - diverted to terminate at Piccadily Circus 23 - withdrawn between Marble Arch and Aldywch. Diverted via Chepstow Road to run directly to Westbourne Park station, then extended via Harrow Road and 18 LoR to Wembley Central. Frequency increased to 6bph. Night service withdrawn. N23 - new service between Westbourne Park and Liverpool Street via existing 23 (and 26) LoR. 2bph frequency all week long. 27 - withdrawn between Hammersmith Bus Station and Hammersmith Grove. Frequency increased to 8bph. N27 withdrawn and converted to 24hr. Diverted to run via Euston. 30 - withdrawn between Marble Arch and Euston 38 - withdrawn between Hackney Central and Clapton. Frequency reduced to 6bph. '38A' - new route between Piccadilly Circus and Clapton Pond via 38 LoR. Frequency of 6bph. 53 - frequency reduced to 6bph. N53 - extended to Oxford Circus 55 - withdrawn between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road 59 - diverted to Russell Square. Frequency reduced to 6bph 73 - diverted at Tottenham Court Road to Trafalgar Square via 29 LoR 74 - diverted to Lancaster Gate 94 - diverted at Marble Arch via 23/139 LoR to Aldwych and Waterloo 98 - diverted to Victoria 109 - frequency reduced to 8bph 113 - withdrawn between Portman Square and Marble Arch 133 - reduced to 7bph 139 - after Baker Street, revised to run via 453 LoR to Elephant & Castle 172 - extended to St Bartholomew's Hospital 176 - diverted to Holborn 188 - withdrawn to Aldwych 189 - diverted via Wigmore Street to Oxford Circus 205 - diverted to Portman Square 274 - diverted via Wigmore Street to Oxford Circus 390 - diverted via Great Portland Street and 22 LoR 452 - diverted to Westbourne Park garage via 23 LoR 453 - withdrawn 468 - frequency reduced to 6bph Bakerloop - Oxford Circus to Lewisham, all stops via 453 LoR as far as Elephant & Castle, then limited stop to Lewisham via New Kent Road and 21 LoR. Frequency of 6bph SL'53' - Aldwych to Waterloo via 172 and 53 LoR, all stops as far as Elephant & Castle then limited stop to Woolwich. Frequency of 6bph. SL6 - restructured to run limited stop along existing route via Brixton. Frequency of 5bph. Extended to Euston when HS2 works allow SL'109' Elephant & Castle to Croydon via 35 and 109 LoRs. Frequency of 6bph. Interested to hear any feed back as always Even accompanied by Super/Bakerloop services, I think the 53 would struggle on the Old Kent Road without the 453 and with a frequency reduction. There's demand at every stop. And while I'm not entirely convinced, it has been said by others on here that the 53's existing frequency is needed at the Plumstead end. I had had a similar idea for an SL'53' from Aldwych to Woolwich though, deviating at New Cross via Lewisham to act as the Bakerloop, before continuing via the 54, and possibly onto Thamesmead.

Restructure idea in West & North West London:
Routes 187, 210, 232, 260, 266 and 316
187 - Revised to operate between Park Royal and Swiss Cottage, via current route to Queens Park, then the 316 to Brondesbury Station, then Iverson Road, West Hampstead Station, Blackburn Road (installing a new bus gate here) and Finchley Road Station. Frequency increased to every 10-12 minutes. Section via St Johns Wood, Warwick Avenue and Maida Hill covered by existing routes 6/31/36/46 - could increase the frequency on any of these routes if required.
316 - Diverted to operate more directly between Ladbroke Grove and Cricklewood, via the 52 to Willesden Green then the 266. Extended from Brent Cross West to the Shopping Centre. Converted to DDs (made possible by changes to the 209/295 below).
210 - Extended from Brent Cross Shopping Centre to Brent Cross West Station. Also diverted between the shopping centre and Brent Cross tube station, via Prince Charles Drive instead of Tilling Road. Creates stand space at the shopping centre for the 316, and links the area around Golders Green Road and Highfield Avenue to Thameslink services.
266 - Withdrawn between Brent Cross and Cricklewood, instead extended to Golders Green via the 260.
260 - Withdrawn between Golders Green and Willesden Garage, instead extended to Brent Cross via the 302 to Neasden then the 232. Creates new links from Neasden to Harlesden and Park Royal, and increases capacity via Dollis Hill Lane (since the 232 can't use DDs). Route 232 diverted via the North Circular Road here, serving common stops with the 112.
Routes 72, 209, 295, 306 and 533
533 - Revised to double-run to Avondale Road, and diverted via Castelnau and Church Road in both directions.
209 - Withdrawn in its current form south of the river. Route number used for new service between Queens Park and Hammersmith Bridge North Side, via the 316 to Ladbroke Grove, 295 to Hammersmith and 72 to the bridge. Using SDs every 10 minutes. The intention would be to eventually extend over the bridge to reinstate the former line of route, operating between Queens Park and Mortlake (and the 533 then withdrawn).
306 - Withdrawn, replaced by changes to the 72 and 295.
72 - Extended from Hammersmith (no longer serving Hammersmith Bridge North) to Sands End via the 306. Converted to DDs. Increases capacity to East Acton, and introduces a new local link from Shepherds Bush to the area around Hammersmith Road and West Kensington Station.
295 - Withdrawn between Ladbroke Grove and Hammersmith, instead extended to Acton High Street via the 218. Could continue further to North Acton if this could be run reliably - with the 218 then withdrawn, and the 440 diverted via West Acton.

The 210 can’t access the routing you’ve mentioned between Brent Cross Station & the shopping centre due to the road layout - the 210 serves Brent Cross Station via Highfield Avenue and can then only reach Tilling Road via Brentfield Gardens. That’s why all the services serving Prince Charles Drive either head northwards or east to west rather than head south or south westerly. The only way the 210 could serve Brent Cross West is either divert in on the way to the shopping centre or double run via the shopping centre and then head to Brent Cross West and terminate

Finally someone who shares my opinion about the 209, as I would prefer it if this route becomes wiped out from existence because after Hammersmith Bridge closed down five years ago, the 209 went from being one of the mostly frequent single deck routes in TfL operation, to slowly downgrading and becoming a half hourly route with a tiny PVR of only two buses a day, especially after it got curtailed south of the river and partially replaced with the new 378 which appears to have more vehicles a day than the former route. Therefore, I don’t see any point of this route still existing and I believe the only way to improve the 209 is to extend the route beyond Mortlake to somewhere like Richmond or Kew Retail Park, where I also remember there being a question asked if the extension to the latter destination would be considered, while the consultation to do with the proposal of bus routes no longer serving Hammersmith Bridge took place.

I think TFL really need to determine whether Hammersmith Bridge is realistically going to open to traffic in the short-medium term. Then either simplify the temporary route arrangements, or review the network on the basis of the closure being permanent. As you say, it certainly doesn't make sense having both the 209 and 533 in their current form. Could easily be merged by running as the current 209 to Mortlake (via Barnes Pond in both directions), double running to Avondale Road if needed, then continuing to Hammersmith via Chiswick Bridge. Keep the 533 number if this will be remain a temporary route, or renumber to 209 if more permanent. Similarly I would question if one of the 378 or 485 could be withdrawn, with some minor changes made to other routes. Is the 378 actually well used to/from Putney Bridge? There's already the 337/485 for links to the Putney (south of the river), and I expect a lot of commuters in the Barnes area would have now switched to using SWR services directly (rather than a bus to a tube station). Plus since the 378 was first introduced, the bridge has reopened to pedestrians, so there is also the option to walk/cycle to Hammersmith.

If needed the 209 could reroute via Station Road so that area doesn’t lose a bus service. Wandsworth Bridge Road needs another decently high freq service since the 220/270 are both awfully unreliable.

I agree, in my experience it is perfectly normal to get stuck at Brewhouse Lane towards Wandsworth for ages with no 220s or 270s and the 485 will still never show up in all of that time... literally not once have I seen one so when a 220 or 270 finally makes it they get bogged down with large crowds

166.... Rerouted direct via Brighton Road and increased to 4bph between West Croydon and Chipstead Valley or Banstead with 2bph to Epsom.
439.... Rerouted via Pampisford Road and Denning Avenue
466.... Reduced to 5bph with additional school journeys as necessary.
*It seems 2bph between Chipstead Valley and Banstead is inadequate but 4bph is excessive?

Ironically, today I needed to get from Wandsworth to Hammersmith - 485 + a bit of walking was a good choice from me as I ended up beating the next 220

Why do people keep coming up with these things about LT's they are not some kind of t-rex that you cannot fit down the street. They do have good steering lock, the only problem is the length. It is a curtailment point for the 253, 254, 279 at Manor House which uses LT's. As I have said, I do not see people getting off the 279 to get a 253, 254, 279 to Finsbury Park to change for other buses. It is pointless and never saw hardly any complaints when the 279 was cut back to Manor House from Holloway around 2002. I have walked along the last stop at Manor House on the 279 to the 29 stop on Seven Sisters Rd and it does not take that long. Far more other stops on the network with further walks than that. I have heard some things being said about the LTs' length making them hard to regularly fit around the stand, but perhaps that may not be an issue. It's clear that you definitely have a lot more prior (and concrete) knowledge of the 279 (especially of its Holloway days) than me. It might still be a useful link to change onto a lot of other modes (a small factor may be the Thameslink core not being nearly as intense in 2002 as it now is) - but a lot of what I've said has come from what I've heard other people say and what I personally think as well. Thanks for giving a more balanced argument than me, at least It is a load of BS and LT's turn there all the time. Even up to this week the 254's were being curtailed here. If someone wanted Thameslink services etc. the 259 mirrors the 279 from Edmonton Green, anyone who would have been on the bus before that is more than likely to get off the bus at Seven Sisters station and use the Victoria line to Finsbury Park and get other lines, it is much quicker.

Restructure ideas to support the 183:
Option 1
183 - Withdrawn between Pinner and Harrow (340 stand).
114 - Withdrawn between Ruislip and Harrow, and instead extended to Pinner via the 183. Maintains the Pinner-Kenton link.
458 - New route from Ruislip to Edgware, via the 114 to Harrow then the 186. Using DDs every 10 minutes.
186 - Withdrawn between Northwick Park and Edgware. Extended from Brent Cross to North Cricklewood, serving new developments.
340 - Extended from Harrow to Northwick Park Hospital, and from Edgware to Mill Hill Broadway, maintaining links from the 186.
Option 2
183 - Withdrawn between Pinner and Harrow.
H11 - Extended from Harrow to Northwick Park, freeing up stand space at Harrow for the 183 (and linking Pinner to Northwick Park).
373 - New route from Pinner to Brent Cross Shopping Centre, via the 183 to Kenton, then Draycott Avenue, Woodcock Hill, The Mall, Kingsbury Station, then the 183 to West Hendon and the 142 to Brent Cross. Creating a direct link from Harrow to Brent Cross, a new link from Kenton to Brent Cross, and other new links to the area around Woodcock Hill. Overlaps with the 183 to partially replace capacity from the SL10, which would no longer serve Kingsbury and Hendon. Using DDs every 12 minutes.
SL10 - Diverted between Kenton and Finchley Central via Edgware, providing faster orbital links from Edgware to Harrow and Finchley. Via the 114 to Queensbury Circle, then Taunton Way, the 288 to Edgware, 221 to Mill Hill (Pursley Road), Devonshire Road and Dollis Road. After Kenton Station, stopping at Queensbury Circle, Deansbrook Road (for Edgware Community Hospital), St Margarets Church, Edgware Bus Station, Cloister Gardens, Mill Hill Broadway Station, Holders Hill Circus and Finchley Central Station.
