I still don't get why you want to withdraw the 148, it breaks a lot of links by doing this 1. I don't particularly want this, but who wanted to get rid of the 10, 48 and 82 other than TfL? 2. Hopper Fare! Aside, links between many places are preserved. The 2 could continue to White City via the 31. if you don't want it, why suggest withdrawing the 148? Gosh the 2 would become so long and potentially unreliable, it's fine as it is.

Some Central London ideas: Routes 2, 137, 148 and 2112 - Would no longer run between Marylebone and Marble Arch. Would instead be rerouted to Notting Hill Gate via route 94. N2 would remain unchanged 137 - Would be extended to Marylebone to replace route 2. N137 would remain unchanged. 148 - Would be withdrawn. 211 - Would no longer run between Waterloo and Westminster Bridge. Would instead be rerouted to Camberwell Green via route 148. 12 - Night service renumbered N12 and withdrawn between Parliament Square and Oxford Circus. Would then be extended to White City via route 148. Day 12 would remain unchanged. Routes 16, 36 and 332
16 - Would be rerouted between Kilburn High Road and Marble Arch via Brondesbury Road and route 36. Night service renumbered N32. 36 - Would be no longer run between Paddington and Queens Park. Night service would remain unchanged but renumbered N36. 332 - Would no longer run between Edgware Road Station and Paddington. Would then be extended to Marble Arch via route 98. Cutting the N12 away from Oxford Circus is absolutely ridiculous. It's normally really well used to and from there with the night time market. The other idea I had was for the N2 to be rerouted to Shepherd's Bush/White City as per the 148, the N137 rerouted to Marylebone as per the day 137 and the N12 routed to Oxford Circus via Victoria and Marble.

The 2 is one of the most useful & reliable routes on my doorstep and I don't want to see that change. Don't get wrong, the link to Westfield would be nice but not at the expense of what the 2 currently does

I don't think that it would be feasible to run it all the way to White City either.

Quite frankly this whole thread is quite pointless unless we’re discussing merger of routes and withdrawal of routes. The concept of a brand new route in London is now seriously far fetched.

14 - withdrawn between Green Park and Russell Square and rerouted to Oxford Circus. Extended from Putney Heath to Roehampton Vale Asda via Tibbets Corner and A3. To decrease journey times between Putney and Oxford Circus and to link Roehampton Vale with central London
22 - withdrawn between Oxford Circus and Sloane Square, and Putney Bridge south side and Putney Common. Extended to Raynes Park via 93 to Wimbledon (Parkside Avenue), Cannizaro Road, Westside Common, Woodhayes Road, 200 to Raynes Park (without the Copse Hill double run). To link Raynes Park with Putney and Central London. Cutting the 22 to Sloane Square is viable because there is the 19 from Chelsea to connect as far as Green Park.
19 - rerouted between Tottenham Court Road and Angel via 14 to Russell Square, Euston and King's Cross. To maintain links lost by 14. Passengers as far as Hyde Park Corner can continue their journey as far as Highbury on the 38.
30/38 - routes swapped between Angel and Canonbury. So that the 38 can match the 19's route between Hyde Park and Higbury. (Due to the 19's rerouting)
74/430 - merged, but withdrawn between Baker Street and Marble Arch without replacement, to improve reliability. Rerouted between Putney Bridge and Dover House Road via 22 to Putney Common, Queen's Ride and South Circular Road. To link Barnes with Central London, and to provide Queen's Ride with a bus route. Route will be numbered 74 and operates from Marble Arch to Roehampton. Replaces the 414 between South Kensington and Marble Arch
414 - withdrawn between Marble Arch and South Kensington, and between Putney Bridge and Fulham Broadway. Rerouted to Mitcham via 28 to Wandsworth, 270 to Mitcham. To make the 414 more useful rather than duplicating the 14, and also to retain the link between Wandsworth and Mitcham, to increase capacity on Garratt Lane, and to link Mitcham to central London.
270 - withdrawn between Tooting (Amen Corner) and Mitcham. (Replaced by 414). Rerouted to Streatham, St Leonard's Church. To link Putney and Wandsworth with Streatham.

The 38 wouldn't do too much to solve the problems of the 19 not being there, as I say the 73 should've stayed at Victoria as that was clearly the more popular route with the 390 revised to run as an Archway to Oxford Circus local service.

Comments: 14: The 85 and 265 are sufficient between Putney and Roehampton, not sure what the point of adding the 14 would be. Also there is very limited stand space at the Asda. 22: Not sure Cannizzaro Road or Common Side West could support double deckers, Cannizzaro Road in particular is quite narrow and would need costly modification to widen it slightly to make it viable for a permanent service and not just casual coaches. 74/430: Upper Richmond Road would lose its direct route to Putney High Street which is arguably more useful then serving a couple of houses on Queens Ride. Also Barnes already has a central London link with the 22. 414/270: Whilst part of Garrett Lane needs extra capacity I’d argue that a small extension to the 28 or 220 to Earlsfield Station would be sufficient. As by that point the 77 joins the 44 and 270 to Tooting. Rerouting the 414 via the 28 would also way over bus Old York Road. Rerouting the 270 would also over bus Southcroft Road and Mitcham Lane.

The walk from there to the station is 2 minutes max. Not sure if this is worth it but perhaps a slight frequency decrease on the 333 would compensate the 270 rerouting to Streatham? It still has the 133 to support most of the remaining section.

Rerouting the 270 would also over bus Southcroft Road and Mitcham Lane. 14 - it would link Roehampton Vale to central London, though if you say that there is sufficient capacity between Putney and Roehampton then the 430 could be rerouted to the Asda instead of the 14, with the 424 rerouted to Danebury Avenue, extended via A219, A3, Roehampton Lane and Danebury Avenue, but given a frequency increase and Sunday service, to retain the link between Danebury Avenue and Putney High Street. 22 - perhaps this could be modified to run via the 93 as far as Wimbledon station, then the 131 to Raynes Park, though this might overbus the Wimbledon-Raynes Park corridor Also the 22 doesn't really reach Barnes imo since it doesn't enter the borough of Richmond 414 - this could be rerouted via the A217 instead of Old York Road. The walk from there to the station is 2 minutes max. Not sure if this is worth it but perhaps a slight frequency decrease on the 333 would compensate the 270 rerouting to Streatham? It still has the 133 to support most of the remaining section. 14 - Again there simply isn’t enough stand space at the Asda to support another route so I’m not sure where the 430 would stand. The 424 takes an indirect route to Putney High Street and it would be even longer than just walking up and taking the 85 or 265. Traffic levels could also ruin the reliability of the low frequency 424. 22 - The 93 is sufficient on this section and the corridor has been reduced slightly in recent years. Having the 22, 57 and 131 on Worple Road would be too much, also from that direction there would need to be a new stand in either Worple Road or Coombe Lane for the 200 so the 22 could use the existing 200 stand. Otherwise the 22 would struggle to serve the station. Either way having the 22 on Worple Road would be too much. 414 - Might make it quicker but a bugger if passengers forget. Not sure reducing the frequency of the 333 just to support the 270 would be justifiable as it would affect the whole of the route. I just don’t agree with rerouting the 270 into another heavy traffic spot.

It still has the 133 to support most of the remaining section. The 333 needs it's current frequency personally - remember that the 133 doesn't support it between Brixton & Oval where the 333 splits away to Stockwell. The Brixton Hill corridor has had a large amount of frequent routes even in previous decades where the bus network had falling patronage. The other issue with terminating the 270 at St Leonard's Church is it misses any important objectives in Streatham as it's coming from the west. These objectives are to serve either the area around Becmead Avenue where all the shops are or to serve Streatham Station & the Tesco Extra which is a big pull from buses.
