This is coming from a non-local to the area, but I've heard about issues regarding the 110 and its length/reliability, could this have been an alternative suggestion? Route 391: Reinstated. Extended from Richmond to Hampton Court via service R68. Route R68: Discontinued. Route R70: Withdrawn between Manor Road Sainsbury's & Manor Circus and diverted to Kew Retail Park via current service R68. I couldn't tell you what to do about the 110/H22 as I'm not local and probably don't know what to do with them, but would be interesting to hear some thoughts. Costs would be minimal given that the 391/R68 run at the same frequency however the R70 runs every 10 minutes which might overbus the Kew Retail P to Manor Circus section. Unfortunately merging the 391 and R68 would encounter the exact same length and reliability problems as the 110, perhaps even worse. The R68 is 9 miles, and you'd be adding on at least an extra 4 miles to go to Hammersmith. The R68 encounters traffic hotspots of its own, like Hampton Road and Hampton Court Road, which combined with Hammersmith and Chiswick High Road would make for a very turbulent service. My solution regarding the 110 is for it to be cut back to Turnham Green Church. Despite my criticisms of the western half of the route the new stops on the A316 seem to be getting a good amount of patronage and you can't take the route away from Powder Mill Lane.

I agree, but I would enhance the 190 or send more District line trains to Richmond to compensate for the loss.

Hello All
To my south london folk on here what would your thoughts be if I was to say that the 171 should be diverted to Hither Green instead of standing at Catford Garage. I could be wrong but I personally think there's enough buses that goes down that stretch of road and it would be nice to change things up. You already have the 47, 199, 208, 136, 54 and 320 down that road.
Let me know your thoughts and why you're either for or against this.
I played this game last year and some of you came up with some interesting points. I'm going to bring it back soon.

New route idea/ a withdrawn route My idea would make a new route 478 which would be a 678 but all day daily route running between Beckton and Stratford via the current routing. 678 would be withdrawn with these journeys becoming extra journeys on the 478. This seems like a good idea as it help with overcrowding on routes 262 for passengers travelling between Stratford and Beckton, help with overcrowding on the 325 between Forest Gate and Plaistow and a new decker allowing for more capacity from Prince Regent to Beckton You would be duplicating the 325 from Prince Regent to Forest Gate which is excessive also passengers using the 262 wouldn’t want to travel the long way via Forest Lane, Forest Gate the via Custom House then the long way into Beckton. If anything just double deck the 325 and extend to Beckton instead of Royal Albert Dock but this would remove the Stratford section of the 678 and not sure if any schools served after Forest Gate. Defo wouldn't have a route going from East Beckton to Beckton via the long way round. That's pointless. Let's wait till the changes happen first.

Sorry I disagree see my post. Adding another route to Custom House will just be excessive especially with the proposed changes due this year! Agreed, from a backseat POV there's not much point in then sending a route to Custom House which I imagine would be for Crossrail & DLR as there's nothing else particularly there for a constant stream of demand (maybe other than the odd EXCEL event) and as for Crossrail/DLR links the 262 already links into them at Stratford!
And I imagine it'll probably stay that way post Crossrail, I mean recently I was in Stratford about midday ish waiting for a 276 & I saw all these 262s and 473s unloading at the last stop with quite large amounts of passengers even at midday.

Backseat POV here and not answering the question in its entirety but if you wanted to reduce bus movements between TL & Catford Town Centre your best bet would be cutting the 320 back to Bromley North or diverted to Plaistow Green & extend the 199 to Bromley Town Centre. That seems to be a popular suggestion amongst the forum.

No need already 4 bus routes serving Sangley Road during the daytime doesn’t need a 5th. 225 also stands at Hither Green no space for another route.

Pick a random area in a specific part of London and ask what changes they would make there and why.

The 678 turns from a school bus for teenagers to a school bus for children past Romford Road. I know, because I used to take my little brother on the 678 to school in Stratford. Kids from three different primary schools used it, St James School being one of them. It also provides much needed support on Forest Lane in the morning peaks towards Stratford, which is why 678 AM journeys do not curtail at Forest Gate in the morning.

But then in saying that do you think there is no provision to add another stand there? There is no need for another bus route in that area or another stand in a residential area. Bromley Road a busy main road is more suitable for a high frequency route like the 171 and has been the case since 1994... If anything replacing the 181 between Lewisham and Catford with the 171 would solve the capacity problems that the 181 gets on Hither Green Lane. Doubt it would happen as the 181 & 225 clears the road.

But you agreed with the route in another post further back. I said it wouldn't be bad. I wasn't 100% convienced as I already knew that there might be a clash with the 325.

It might've been you who mentioned it on here but somebody suggested the addition of extras between Catford & North Downham Estate to ease overcrowding on the 124, perhaps the 171 could always do that and terminate just before North Downham (there's no way one would get through)
