Serves no real benefit and is just 86 and 174 in part. It is a route like 357, serves no real purpose imo.

To rationalise the night network and route contracts, perhaps the standalone night routes could be amended to work alongside a day route - plus some other changes to day routes for new links in Central London. N168 - Renumbering of the N5. Rerouted between Euston and Trafalgar Square via the 91. Or extended along the 168 towards Old Kent Road. N390 - Extended from Archway to Barnet via the N20. Route 134 continues links via Camden and Kentish Town. N20 withdrawn. 23 - diverted (day and night) between Knightsbridge and Hammersmith via the 74 towards Earl's Court, continuing along the A4 to Hammersmith via West Kensington Station. Provides a bus service to the area around Barons Court Station, plus new links between South Kensington and Hammersmith. Frequency increase on route 9 if needed. Route N97 withdrawn, replaced by night service on revised route 23. Option to also reroute the N74 to Trafalgar Square via the N97. N136 - Retendered under the 136's contract. Or renumbered N436 and attached to the 436 contract, if the route is deemed to have more in common with the 436. Alternatively, as the 36N parallels via Vauxhall and Camberwell, the N136 could be rerouted via the 136 to Elephant, then via Lambeth North and Westminster Bridge to line of route - would also be more direct than the current routeing via Victoria. N135 - Renumbering of route N550. Diverted via Spindrift Avenue. Also rerouted via Liverpool Street (via the 135), then continuing along London Wall and New Change to line of route. 4 - Re-extended to Waterloo, but via Blackfriars Bridge and Stamford Street to provide new links. To stand near County Hall, using the former 341 stand. 115 - Extended from Aldgate to Blackfriars, via the 15 to Mansion House, then along Queen Victoria Street, using the 4's stand space. To relieve the 15 along the section near Tower Hill. 15 - Rerouted between Tower Hill and Limehouse via The Highway, making the route slightly more direct, and providing new links around Shadwell. Extended to Canning Town. N15 - Renumbering of route N551. Rerouted between Tower Hill and Mansion House direct via the 15. N5 (or N115) - Renumbering of the existing N15 between Trafalgar Square and Romford. Why replace numbers for the sake of it? To better integrate standalone night services with the day network, being scheduled together, and with common route sections.

Plus the n5 goes to Edgware not Romford My proposals were to replace the existing N5 with a night service on the 168, extending to Edgware, while the N15 would be rerouted to replace parts of the N551. So the existing N15 to Romford could be renumbered to N5, as it shares much of its route and crosslinks with the day route 5. Though N115 could be an alternative if this is less confusing.

But there are reasons why they exist on their own in the first place - in a time where money is almost non existent, it seems very odd and with little benefit to start spending money on these sorts of changes.

The 23 and 414 already have a lot in common so rerouting the 23 down to South Kensington would give it even more in common with the 414, I'm dubious about the need for another bus route between Knightsbridge and South Kensington. Also consider that sending the 23 down the A4 may sounds nice on paper and create useful new links but the 23 would really suffer from all the traffic it would face. I think many suggestions have been made on the forum to withdraw the 414 completely due to parallels with other routes. My revised 23 could cover some links via South Kensington, with possible frequency increases to the 6 & 14 if needed.

i don't why N279 follows 29 to TQ from MH, 253 seems more suitable so... 279: Converted to 24hr and extended to either Finsbury Park or Holloway Nags Head at (Night Only) on the bus stops between Manor House and Holloway just like how the 47 used to have one. I also believe this route used to terminate at one of those places. N279: Withdrawn N253: Extended to Trafalgar Square and increased PVR Another thought: 9: Withdrawn ( I believe 10 is more useful than 9, i could be wrong) 10: Restored ( Same reason as 9) N9: Withdrawn bewteen Hyde Park Corner and Aldwych, re-routed to Kings Cross via 10 and re-numbered N10 (Support to Piccadilly from Kings Cross to Heathrow rather than just Piccadilly Circus) The N279 is VERY busy, especially wait late night workers and early cleaning staff etc when the Underground is not running. Curtailing the N279 at Manor House would leave a lot of people there waiting for and N253. This then may discourage people from even using the standard 279 and may opt for other routings. What is the point of extending the day 279 to Holloway when the 259 goes there mirroring it from Edmonton. The 279 was cute back as the 254 was extended to Holloway. It was also the right decision as many of the people during the day would get off at Seven Sisters for Vic line and Manor House for Piccadilly and other intense bus services such as 141. The N279 could take a different routing to TSQ, but then the N29 would suffer as even last year when the schedule was changed it made the route very busy throughout the night with standees. As people travel further distances on Nightbus it would be a senseless cut.

I would just leave the N5 and 24-hour 189 as they are.

I said 279 would be converted to 24hr and extended to Holloway (Night Only). At daytime, the route would run normally from Manor House to Waltham Cross, but at midnight, it would be extended to Holloway. The 254 and 259 don't run at midnight to cover Holloway so i believe this is somewhat beneficial. The N29 and N253 would start at TSQ and then by the time they get to Holloway, 279 would be there to take the load off them. I don't really see the reason why 3 night routes need to operate between Manor House and Tottenham Court Road, is it really that busy? 279.ran from Smithfield to Walthsm Cross some late journeys ran on to Upshire Village. And yet again people on here want to keep withdrawing old routes this time 9 which has been around for ever. Look at history of London Buses( londonbuses.co uk).

At one point I thought it would be good if the 349 was extended to Waltham Cross and the 279 had dropped slightly and run all journeys from Waltham Cross to Holloway. At the time when the 279 was shortened there were shorts from Waltham X to Ponders End that the 349 could have replaced on that section as it's the only section along that corridor that is solo (most of the Waltham Cross/Holloway section is backed up with either the 349/259 plus 149) and the 279 is massively busy end to end.

The N5, N20, N73 and 390 are enough. And then, for the N279, reroute it between Holloway and Warren Street, via the 259 as far as King’s Cross, Euston, Euston Square and back to line.

Yes they are busy, after all they go near two busy train lines the Picadilly & Victoria line.
