X105: a express running between Heathrow and Shepherds Bush via route 105 to South Road, Lady Margaret Road, Ruislip Road, Greenford Broadway, Greenford Road, Rockware Avenue, Oldfield Lane North, Western Avenue, route 95 to White City Station, route 228 to Shepherds Bush Stations and Shepherds Bush Green. To link Shepherds Bush with Heathrow. Why would someone get an express bus route taking an indirect route from Shepherds Bush to Heathrow when it would be far quicker either to get the H&C/Circle lines/a bus to Hammersmith then the Piccadilly Line or get the Central Line to Ealing Broadway then change to TfL Rail? Also how many people would want to go from Chessington to Ealing Broadway? I maybe wrong but I can't imagine that people wanting to go from the two will be popular enough the have an express route and changing for the 71 seems fine at the moment. I think an important thing to remember is that just because there can be a route doesn't mean there should be a route.

I agree, even though the 65 is a long a busy trunk route I see no need for a parallel express route. Large sections of the 65 route are one lane in each direction and there are numerous traffic hotspots along the route which frequently snarl up and when they do what would be the benefit of an express route as it will just get stuck in and contribute to, the same congestion which 65s get stuck in. Overall, there'd be little benefit in getting an X65 over a 65 with often minimal time saving, especially with express buses getting stuck behind slow buses, especially if you waited the extra time for an express bus only for that time to have not been worthwhile. We had this discussion not long ago on the RATP thread about the futility of an X65.

The suggestion of an X65 was between Kingston and Ealing Broadway, I don't think running it to Chessington would be viable but as with all these things if you don't try then you don't know.

Because not everyone likes the tube or the train.

Well few people travel end to end on the 607, yet you suggest that people would travel end to end on your X105 which does not take a direct routing between Heathrow and Shepherds Bush. If there are people who find using the train or tube so objectionable who are going to Heathrow with luggage they may well take a cab, but regardless of that, there are much faster ways of going from Shepherds Bush to Heathrow that don't involve the A40. Examples include getting the 607 to Hayes Grapes and changing to the X140 or getting the 237 to Hounslow and changing to the 81/203/222 to reach the freeflow zone and change to a desired route to reach a terminal.

A few people may use the X105 end to end and the X105 could benefit other people like the Heathrow workers and act as relief for 95 and 105. Just because a route ain’t direct doesn’t make it useless.

I've come up with a new route idea numbered route 369, replacing the Mobility service of the 969 (which would be withdrawn) and give the 369 a more direct routing. This new route idea of mine would operate between Roehampton Vale ASDA and Hampton Sainsbury’s. Also the current stop that routes 285 and 290 serve (Uxbridge Road/Hampton Sainsbury’s) would be where the new 369 route would stand (285 and 290 would no longer serve that stop) with a new bus stop (towards both ends) being put on Uxbridge Road outside Sainsbury’s for the 285. As for the 290, it would no longer serve Hampton Sainsbury’s or Hampton Road East and would go direct from Twickenham Road into A316 Country Way.
My new 369 between (Roehampton Vale-Hampton Sainsbury’s) route idea would be as follows:
Route 369: Roehampton Vale ASDA, A3 Kingston Road, Alton Road (towards Hampton Sainsbury’s), Roehampton Lane, Upper Richmond Road, Sheen Road, Paradise Road, Richmond Bus Station, Bridge Street, Richmond Road, St Margarets Road, St Margarets Station, A316 Chertsey (providing the A316 with a bus service with new bus stops) up to Apex Corner then Hampton Road East and then terminating at Hampton Sainsbury’s
Frequencies: Every 20 minutes (Monday to Saturday daytime) and Every 30 minutes (Sundays and all evenings) using single deck buses
Let me know what you guys think?

Nice Idea but the purpose of the 969 is to serve housing areas with no other service which this doesn't do. If there was money, I would introduce this but leave the 969 as it is or make it once a day

If you were adamant a route between Shepherds Bush & Heathrow Airport was necessary I'd have an entire new route not operated by TFL.
The route: (Number is 704)
Shepherd's Bush Station (72, 95, 220, 272, 283, 295, 704, N72) Brook Green (72, 220, 283, 295, 704, N72) Hammersmith Bus Station (72, 533, N33, N72) (it is essential Route 704 serves here to gather patronage from other routes, aka people changing from routes) Heathrow Central Bus Station
Bus uses A4, and M4 in between Hammersmith & Heathrow Central.

I agree with that, the A4 and M4 is definitely the way to go if you're trying to go from Shepherds Bush to Heathrow if a direct connection is required rather than an unnecessary detour via the A40.

X13: An express route running between Victoria and Barnet Hospital via route 13 to North Finchley and route 263 to Barnet Hospital. To act as relief for the 13 and to link Barnet with Golders Green and Central London. X16: An express route running between Edgware and Victoria via route 32 to Kilburn High Road and route 16 to Victoria. To link Edgware with Victoria. 105: extended from Greenford Station to Berkley Avenue via Rockware Avenue, Oldfield Lane North, Horsenden Lane North, Greenford Road and Berkley Avenue. To act as relief for the 92. X112: An express route running between Ealing Broadway and Turnpike Lane Station via route 112 to Brent Cross and 232 to Turnpike Lane Station. To link Turnpike Lane with Ealing Broadway. X113: An express route running between Edgware and Marble Arch via route 113 to Portman Square and Oxford Street. To link Marble Arch with Edgware. X266: running between Brent Cross and Hammersmith via route 266 to Acton and route 218 to Hammersmith. Linking Brent Cross with Hammersmith.

The whole point of an express is to basically be direct. The 105 for parts of the route runs through residential roads so the 105 is not a route I would express. I think starting the X105 from Shepherds Bush is largely pointless - fine, the 95/105 were one route 40 years ago, but that is long gone and so are many of the travel patterns that went with it. Jump on a bus down to Hammersmith and you can be at Heathrow well inside an hour, a journey time no X105 could get near once it has fought through Southall etc. 237 & 111 would be comparable at 75 minutes. Journeys like Shepherds Bush to Greenford are quick enough on the 95 up the A40, or there is the Central Line. Shepherds Bush to Southall has the more direct 607. Other posters have made the case for an alternative Shepherds Bush - airport link which I would support in itself. That said, I think the 105 could support an X-variant of sorts. Miss out the right section down Allenby Road, perhaps send it down Lady Margaret Road, or perhaps miss Southall altogether as the traffic there is a problem. The 105 typically takes 15 minutes to get from one side of Southall Broadway to the other, before anything goes wrong - and that isn't serving stops, it is just sitting in traffic. Send it through and it the time penalty will take a lot of the 'express' aspect of the route away. Lots of customer potential there, though - another route could take care of it. Send it through Greenford and up the Ruislip Road, maybe send east it to Hanger Lane, then up Alperton and Wembley. South of Greenford fast from Ruislip Road (White Hart?) via the Parkway. Give it something to do that other TfL links do not already do well. The 105 *is* slow from Heathrow to Greenford. Wembley to Heathrow is two changes of tube, or one via Central London, or a 140 via Harrow. I think it would do ok.
