I had already read rumours about the government threatening to take over control of TfL. This would be an undemocratic power grab, in that there was a Yes vote in the 1998 referendum to create the post of London Mayor with powers including control of local transport in London.

We can see how the Mayors of Manchester and Liverpool were treated, and they had only asked for money once, compared to Sadiq who's asked several times In London's case it's to rescue a transport authority which has technically gone bust. Boris, scared of the virus won't want everyone taking to their cars if the bus and tube suddenly stop due to lack of funds. Who knows where that would leave bus operators if all the routes ceased suddenly? There would have to be a PTE or something in place like everywhere else, so I don't see the Government control as a bad thing. Boris knows the CC Extension will not happen

The fact that TfL have only just woken up to the fact that the 414 is superfluous (certainly the northern end of it) when people have been saying that on groups like this for years says it all and assuming the 414 is cut to Marble Arch it's still not going to happen until next year sometime. I can't see this expanded congestion charge happening and I agree that the government taking control won't be a bad thing.

I think the day TfL start listening to 'groups like this' and not their own data and analaysis to plan the bus network is the day I realise 2020 has a sequel!!

I would be very worried if TfL started implementing some of the cuts suggested on here. The network would be a mess especially as most cuts suggested are based in casual observations or favour the person suggesting them.

If their own data is accurate it's only going to tell them the same thing. TfL data is probably more accurate than someone who observes a bus empty at a certain time of a day say on their way to work but is busy a few stops later or a different time of day.

And the fact that TfL are now proposing to withdraw the 414 north of Marble Arch suggests their data is in line with what has been reported on groups like this.

If their own data is accurate it's only going to tell them the same thing. This has got to be the funniest comment I've seen in a long time. Do you really think that your opinion is going to outweighs years worth of data? I am sure you have observed every single route in London day in and day out.

Suggested that the 38 and 414 will probably have cuts but got told each time that it won't happen because I don't see the routes 24/7. I do agree that data is important but people who do see the route can give insights that can be useful not saying TfL should listen to this people. Finally yes I agree entirely that there's too many ideas to withdraw routes on here and TfL should only look at their data.

Yes the 38 has come up a lot but has always had such a high PVR so a easy target like the 18 and 25.
