Seen another article where it says free travel is retained for u18s, but then mentions an 80p child fare? Think we need to wait for the official TfL release Probably just simply that buses/trams are still free but tube fares increase from 75p to 80p for 11-18s. Simpler maybe but doesn’t raise revenue! Anyway the should children pay fares debate has been done many times here and usually ends in a fiery debate.

Thanks for that, read 3 reports, and none were as clear as that.

Fare rises are a sign that TFL are adhering to the demands of the government as part of a funding package, so that's a positive sign a full funding deal is on the way. That's my interpretation at least.

That's my interpretation at least. I was thinking the same. The mention of changes to concession fares aswell. Not sure where this leaves cuts to buses. I'm assuming more then just the 168 and 271 in reality still.

Just the start likely unfortunately.

This is my thinking too, even if a deal is not finalised yet fares would have still risen in March as the revenue is urgently needed.

Indeed, even pre Covid it was always the intention for fares to rise at RPI+1% after the end of the fare frezze policy.

I keep on reading about Tfl withdrawing from the Travelcard scheme , what does this mean ? No more one day travelcards or travelcards won't be valid on tfl services ?

Updated Travelcard prices on the TfL website tfl.gov.uk/campaign/new-fares#on-this-page-3I have also seen it mentioned elsewhere about withdrawing so not sure what’s going on.

This is something TfL is proposing to help with the finances. It would mainly affect people who travel into London by train and incorporate a travelcard into their day or period ticket. Going forward they would need to use pay-as-you-go (with capping) instead.

Sorry if I have missed it but I thought today was the last of the current finance deal. Has another extension been agreed?

Surprised there hasn't been any news about the new long-term funding deal as of yet. As I thought the current funding deal runs out at midnight tonight.

Brace yourself! Without a doubt it will come. The Government will roll over and agree to the mayor's threats.
