Don't worry, something will come tonight. Brace yourself! Without a doubt it will come. The Government will roll over and agree to the mayor's threats. I am not too sure they will, the mayor has been making threats for sometime and they could have given in. I think people should be prepared for services more like the late 90s and early 00s. Think the good days are over.

The issue with TFL keeps accepting bailouts Is what will they do when they do run out. If in 2019 they were struggling I can't see how they will ever recover. Plus TFL do have keep accepting conditions which they could regret later.

Unless I've missed something, is TFL now operating without government funding?

Unless I've missed something, is TFL now operating without government funding? Well the deal has now expired. I'm certain that a deal between TFL and DFT has been agreed whether its long term or short term we shall find out today (Saturday) or tomorrow when they make the announcement public.

Unless I've missed something, is TFL now operating without government funding? I’m gonna guess a deal has been done but not announced as it is very late. I’d expect something to be released overnight. If there was another extension it probably would have been confirmed by now. Also it goes without saying that TfL hasn’t operated with government funding since it was converted to the business rates retention in 2015/16.

You're right as I reported it on here two weeks ago around 6 ish in the evening on the day it was due to expire, confirming that the deal was extended by a further two weeks, so I'm sure a deal has been agreed, hoping its a long term one, fingers crossed!

For the last 2 years it has operated with government funding ... Bailout after bailout

Sure something has been agreed or sure buses would have been directed back to base Yes, Statement released Copied from Dean Sullivans post on the Londoner Facebook group As many will be aware Tfls funding extension agreed two weeks ago expires today. TfL have issued this press release this morning. Interestingly theres no mention on how long this extension is likely to last. TfL Statement - TfL Funding Update Transport for London (TfL) today issued the following update on Government funding: A Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson said: “We continue to discuss our funding requirements with the government. There is no UK recovery from the pandemic without a London recovery and there is no London recovery without a properly funded transport network in the capital. We hope these discussions can be concluded successfully soon.”

Reading between the lines of that statement and I’d suspect they are very close to an agreement in principle. I’d also suspect there will be discussions over the weekend with something announced during next week. This is entirely based on the lack of an additional short term extension to the funding agreement.

The TfL funding deal has been extended until Friday....this is just absurd now Clearly there must be a sticking point on either side that cannot be resolved.

The TfL funding deal has been extended until Friday....this is just absurd now It is getting beyond ridiculous. It would be far more efficient to set a realistic interim date for both parties to complete verification and review of information and come to an agreement. I feel for staff members caught in the crossfire between the mayor and the government. I would hope to see some sensible measures from TfL around the vehicles used for the backlogged tender awards. It wouldn’t surprise me to see an unusual amount of “holds” as the timeframe has shortened a fair bit between award and live operations. Also shiny new electrics are not going to arrive soon enough for some of those routes and neither is hydrogen fuel cell infrastructure. I think holds using existing vehicles until new vehicles are available may be TfL’s trump card here. Or perhaps we’ll see the 92 awarded to Abellio GW with Scania’s loaned from Stagecoach 🤣
