The Met. Office has issued a Yellow Severe Weather Warning for snow and ice, covering much of the United Kingdom and starting at 18.00 tonight.
London and the South-East are not expected to be affected initially but hazardous conditions could arrive on Wednesday and persist into Thursday morning.

I'm not surprised it's bloody freezing out there 🥶🥶

Went out for a drive today (and get couple of food essentials) and there was lying snow around Cirencester (and do have winter tyres on the car, so no problem with country roads)
And yes, we did drive over county boundary, (from Wiltshire in tier 2) but most shops in these rural areas are taking a 4 day break so haven’t yet reopened, so more of bit of walk in fresh country air. Glad I got out big coat as it was nippy.

It's been snowing in places such as Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Yorkshire currently. With snow this month if I'm not mistaken happening earlier in East Anglia and Kent so I'm not surprised this has been the case. Nothing forecasted down south like you said

It is many years since I have seen so many days of snow so close together. Thankfully it is not as cold as during the beast from the east in March 2018.

Being high up into the Pennine Hills, the Huddersfield/Halifax area often sees snow and icy conditions.

Snow is on it's way might seem weird to say that as the weather is due to warm up to 9 or so next week, but it's due to Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW), as upper atmospheric temperatures affect our weather more in winter. Weather models suggest it will be another Beast from the East type of event at the end of the month. There will be more of a North East wind direction after next Friday. But before then, wet and milder in London...

Shows why it is important for buses not to run up hills in snow and ice. It might seem like a massive inconvenience when the W7 has to terminate at the bottom of Muswell Hill but it would still be preferable to having a bus come rolling back down the hill like that.

Could be quite interesting, looks like it will melt fairly soon afterwards as warmer Atlantic air pushes in for a few days, but colder weather expected again in weeks time

I see there is expected to be another Beast from the East starting Sunday
Don’t yet know how snowy this will be for London area, but parts of the country look as though they will get drifting snow. Watch this space.

Watch this space. Looks like next week onwards could be a decent chance of snow. Forecast at present in North Kent is snow from early hours of Sunday am and then on and off into mid week. I’m nights on Sunday so hoping I’ll have an interesting journey to work. Will probably try and use the bus , as my experience of trying to use trains in the snow aren’t good (unless I use SE High Speed which is overhead power)

Pinch of salt maybe, but lots of models agreeing it seems.
