Assuming the 148 frequency is cut from 8bph to 6bph, I'd assume the PVR will go from 24 to 9 if cutback to Victoria. Should free up as many as 18 LTs given there's a fiar amount of slack in the RATP LT fleet The 148 isn’t being cut back anymore - it’s now just an assumed reduction to 6bph

Tfl probably knew they could delay the tender and investigate the 45 as whoever wins it they won't need new buses. I don't want to sound like the profit of doom but just because its been saved TFl May still have decided there are better savings by cutting the 94 back to Marble Arch using the stand space earmarked for the 45 extension. This does change things thou as now there isn't stand space coming free at either Elephant and Camberwell Green which I thought would be utilised by other routes.

I doubt it highly, the 148s contact still expires this Autumn and new electrics would mean should a new operator win it would put them in a mad dash for new buses in time. While otherwise the existing buses could transfer over and there might not even need to be a change to the contract start date. It is quite funny as otherwise the 148 could be a very competitive route. It has S on one end and Q and WL on the other and all three are equipped with electric facilities already.

The cutback to Victoria would have made a LU retention much mroe likely with TT being a contender. All 3 garages are very familiar with LTs aswell and would share them with other LT routes as either garage.

Yes it did, 15 is listed as a heritage route as it passes historical sites across London. Trafalgar Square is almost the core of the 15 route which is used by tourists from Tower Bridge to Trafalgar Square. If its cut to Aldwych, the value will plumit. I would rather cut 87 to Whitehall than 15. Where is this listed? or are you assuming because it had a heritage service? To be honest the route might as well be cut back to Aldwch as most weekends in normal times it is curtailed because of one demo or another.
From a rather selfish point of view I would extend on the eastern end to maybe Canning Town if cut back or merge with the 115 bringing the 15 back to East Ham!
The 15 is quite tricky...back to pre-COVID days, the Trafalgar Square - Tower Hill was the busiest section off peak and during weekends as it's popular amongst tourists for the attractions, while the eastern end only got busy during peak hours esp. after school. But I doubt if it should cut back any further from the eastern end given it's already short enough. Probably it's best to keep as it is.

car-lead recovery is another anti-car made up thing by the cyclist nutters. It is a joke, it is not as if people say oh we have had covid, now lets go buy a car and we would be on our merry way to the future. It is utter garbage. Even if cars were made of oxygen and run of mind power; people like yourself and other car hater would still have a way to try to put it down. End of the day, whether you like it or not the car is here to stay. Car-led recovery is not a "made up thing". Since the end of "Stay At Home" car use is back up to 78% of its pre-covid levels, whereas bus use has only recovered to 42% and rail transport languishes at 26% for the Underground and just 21% for National Rail. And those figures are from the Department for Transport. The next big event is 12th April, when people will be allowed to stay away from home. If the trend of increasing car use continues at double the rate of increasing public transport use, we have a serious, car-related problem. A car-related problem that will lead to far more deaths from air pollution and inactive lifestyles. The car may be here to stay. But there is much that can be done to decrease our reliance on it and to make car-free living a realistic alternative. We need to use cars less. Well the 78% could be those that are back at work etc. could it be logically that more would be bus and train passengers are furloughed; have people not stop and thought of that. Not because we have had a pandemic these car drivers are now going to switch to bus, bicycle etc. this is what you fail to understand it is NOT the same experience. I guess it would never hit home and to put it blunt but with such a time conscious society we have, even worse in London every second matters. People do NOT have the luxury to be taking longer journeys on bus when it comes to making money, life quality time etc. Employers demand longer hours but then you cannot even get to start a family properly, pick up kids or visit family, do shopping etc spend quality time etc. but then you would rather everyone just waste valuable hours commuting. It is as if you are saying over the past year we have now had millions of people get a driving licence and bought a car; which is so far from the truth.

This anti-car nonsense is going to far. The way some influential people talk as if London was some quaint village with everything within cycling distance is maddening. Cars, vans and lorries are essential forms transportation. Not all journeys can be made by foot, bike or public transport. Dealing with tailpipe emissions and waste caused by premature scrappage is a better option than designing homes and urban infrastructure that will end up as mini ghettos. Next thing you know these same people will be campaigning for caps on the number of children permitted per family. "Not all journeys can be made by foot, bike or public transport" - however there are still too many that can be, but are being made by car instead. I don't know why the Gascoigne Estate is being replaced with expensive housing for car-owners. But I do know that it is within walking distance of rail and bus routes and a busy town centre. Without masses of car parking being provided it is possible to design housing estates at a population density that allows services and public transport links to be viable, and also with valuable green spaces and traffic-free walking and cycling routes. How about this for an idea? Someone mentioned that the A13 is always reported to be at a standstill at peak times. So charge people for driving on it. Charge them a lot. Use the money to improve the public transport links. The A13 could carry express bus routes, using their own dedicated bus lanes. The old age Labour mantra of charge and tax the motorist etc. been there done that and we still have got NOWHERE. Even worse TfL are now bankrupt, goes to show how far congestion charging, bus lane fines, yellow box fines, lez fines, ulez fines etc goes. They would inflict 1001 fines, charges, taxes etc. and still the money would NEVER be enough because those in charge are simply incompetent.

It's not as simple as that - TfL had a subsidy until Boris and the Tory government stupidly decided it was a good idea to remove it thus a vital funding model. Now if you couple that with a financial black hole because of that decision, plus continuous fare freezes and hopper fare which reduced revenue income and then add on top the decision to stop charging fares during the pandemic and the fact less people were driving resulting in less fines.

Just pleased the route will remain. For variety it is nice to see LU in Camberwell, but perhaps their tenure may end this time.

Well Boris possibly saw it to be self sufficient and it would have possibly been if he continued as mayor. If we never had the fares freeze, fast food and beach body ready type advert bans, they would have not gone in the red even before the pandemic. If Khan was not so arrogant there could have been a reversal or otherwise with subsidy. Khan is typical of biting the hand that feeds him.

Lol, Boris didn't see anything so please don't wash over his mistake and it's pretty clear to see that the decision he took with the government has massively backfired. Khan has made big errors of which I pointed out his two biggest ones in the fares freeze and hopper fare which despite giving me benefits, also presents revenue gaps that hinder investment. So whilst you haven't said it, if you going to label me as anti Boris or pro Khan, please don't because I've previously voted for Boris and have never voted for Khan just like referring to us who want less congestion and who never suggested removing cars entirely as 'anti-car' - there seems to be a trend of sticking certain labels out there so thought I'd get over with ASAP

Good, I am glad they redesigned it. All it does it make people park on other roads like what Waltham Forest, Hackney, Islington, Harringay did with their CPZ in areas with no parking problems. This then makes 'sell their space' or people find other illegal methods or cheats of ways of parking. Any other 'world class city' would never do this and it is no wonder we are starting to lag behind many other cities. Most of the housing being built imo is a joke and just over-priced cheap built cladding type flats, no proper houses. This is also creating a family-LESS future. It has also started to bring back mini ghetto's that were eliminated knocking down tower blocks and other housing of this type in the 80's and 90's This anti-car nonsense is going to far. The way some influential people talk as if London was some quaint village with everything within cycling distance is maddening. Cars, vans and lorries are essential forms transportation. Next thing you know these same people will be campaigning for caps on the number of children permitted per family. Funnily enough, the party that has actually gone down this route is - the Conservatives. They have used their time in power to bring in a "two-child policy" - since April 2017, parents are not eligible for financial support through tax credits or universal credit for their third or subsequent children. This could be up to £2,830 per year per child affected. There is an exception - if a woman wants to claim for a third or subsequent child conceived through rape, she has to make a declaration to that effect to the DWP. The Child Poverty Action Group has calculated that this policy has affected 350,000 families and 1.25million children, and if it were to be scrapped 200,000 children could be lifted out of poverty altogether.

People were talking about buses bring too indirect these days. I'll give an example being the 125 & 382 between Finchley & Southgate.
The 125 is the sort of route that ensures links are maintained and big town centres are connected whereas the majority of the 382 routing is along the lines of something you would do in a car pretty much (except round Brookside & Ladderswood Estate)
