North London Line(s) - yes Highbury & Islington/Dalston Junction - West Croydon, Crystal Palace, New Cross and Clapham Junction - collectively known as the Brunel Line(s) after the Brunel Tunnel under the Thames. I don't think East London is fitting anymore now the lines have extended so far into South London. Euston-Watford Junction - Watford Line Liverpool Street-Enfield town/Cheshunt/Chingford - Leaside Line(s) (Lea Valley Line is already in use for the route through Tottenham Hale although it isn't generally referred to as such by the public) The GOBLIN - why not? As someone said the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway became the Bakerloo Line in popular language and it stuck. Romford-Upminster I would just refer to it as that. Don’t see why East London line name can’t still be used even though it goes beyond just East London, although I do like the sound of Brunel Line. We have plenty of current lines that serves places beyond the name. You’re naming the North London line as such even though it also serves areas of west and southwest London. Northern line doesn’t just serve North London, Central Line isn’t restricted to Central areas of London and Victoria line doesn’t just serve Victoria It is probably more of a South London line now than East London

I don't see any of the names used at the moment being adopted. I'm not a fan of lines named after people, and this idea that this should prioritise certain groups of people in the name of 'diversity' and ignore others. That also includes the naming of things after royals - I don't know why they needed to call it the Elizabeth Line when Crossrail 1 sounds a lot better.

Whats worse Boris Johnson suggested naming Crossrail 2 the " Churchill Line "

I'm not a fan of naming things after Royal people but I think the Queen is fine after her service to the country. I'd be extremely against calling a future line the Charles Line for example. Although I do think naming a line the Diana Line would be quite interesting, and may be the only other royal than the Queen that I think people would accept at this moment in time. The obvious issue is that naming of lines is expected to be a lot more democratic these days too. I would imagine that the names of the Overground lines would be put out to a public poll but the obvious issue there is a line coming out named as Train McTrainface.

If it really must be named, just call it the Shenfield Line - I know some will moan that a non London place shouldn't be chosen but at least it makes sense and is appropriate

All of this is avoided if you go the route of most other countries and use numbers, letters or colours to name the lines 🙃🙃🙃

Worse still if they called it the Andrew line or the Harry line!

There's a current aim to implement the changes by the end of 2024.

There's a current aim to implement the changes by the end of 2024. Absolutely stupid waste of money. So stupid when everyone will still refer to the collective as Overground.

I'm personally not in favour of it but if it happens, I hope they just use the names that the lines are already known as and not use some wishy washy arty farty type stuff. Every other rail line in the country goes by the long established names they have, London doesn't need to be different in that regards

You can refer to ‘delays on the Goblin line’ for example.
