Under the new round of Medway Council tendering, from the 28th August Arriva have lost routes 100 [Saturday service], 113, 120, 121, 145 [Mon-Sat evenings], 169, 179 and school routes 155, 600 and 638 to Nu-Venture. The Saturday service on the 100 will be replaced by a Saturday extension of Nu-Venture's 151. The 155 will be replaced by 529 Peters Village to Maidstone Schools and 638 Peters Village to Warren Wood schools
Nu Venture have done well. Apparently they’re paying more than Arriva so I expect some drivers will be happy to transfer. Hopefully some interesting ex London buses will head this way.

I have already scrapped plans for my August Bank Holiday tour of Runcorn & east Liverpool as a result.

Pleased to report the ANW strike has been resolved, and buses will be back on the road as normal from tomorrow. Unions have managed to secure a “historic” 11.1% pay increase.
In addition to the obvious need to serve existing routes, ANW were taking over a number of routes across Merseyside in September from the struggling HTL Buses. The network can continue to provide vital services across the region and the entire North West, and hopefully the relationship between unions and the company is repaired going forward.

With such a generous deal, fare rises seem inevitable. East Liverpool had been my August Bank Holiday frontrunner until the strikes and other considerations mean I come to London for CrossRail instead.

Arriva route 423 in Kent withdrawn from 2nd October. Means village of Darenth and the Fleet Estate is now cut off from public transport.
477 becomes hourly (report doesn’t say whether it’s withdrawn past Swanley).
481 withdrawn west of Gravesend
489 rerouted in Gravesend via the 481
483 rerouted via former 481 via Swanscombe instead of direct via A2 and still serves Bluewater.
Fastrack services not affected
The 423 was a lifeline for OAPs and don’t forget it served the nearest hospital and train station at Longfield.
New Ash Green & Hartley are left with around 5 buses per day on the 489.

Well Arriva in Merseyside, didn’t they just agree a deal of £14 ph? Isn’t that now exceeding starter pay in London?
