Demonstration held in central London to protest Ulez expansionProtesters gathered in Trafalgar Square to demand an end to London's ultra-low emission zone (Ulez) ‘People will forget about ULEZ by the time of the Mayoral election’ Wasn’t that the rhetoric when it came in and these protests started? Make no mistake, ULEZ will be front and centre of the Mayoral election campaign. You only have to look at the disruption caused by several sets of ULEZ-topped traffic lights being cut down in Bromley borough over the last couple of weeks to see that people are fiercely passionate about this issue. I’m not condoning the destruction of traffic lights but I can fully understand the reasons for people continuing to take them down It’s definitely going to have an impact. ULEZ plus non-sensical LTNs are now starting to turn off people and they will jump on to the nearest alternative which is anti-ULEZ / anti-LTN Frankly if at a central level the tories hadn’t screwed up so badly the mayoral elections would have been much closer (plus selecting a better candidate!)

I maintain that if the Tories had selected a better candidate rather than treating this as a foregone conclusion then everything could have played out differently, and that's as a very passionate Labour voter. Khan needs to realise that London is not Amsterdam and you need to work with motorists as opposed to against them. London as a city is public transport centric at its centre but car and private transport centric at its outer edges because of the disproportionate public transport provided. It's easy to throw people out of a car when they have a selection of 6 bus routes which come every few minutes, not so much the case when you have one every 13 minutes. A Tory candidate could have probably won if they ran an anti-ULEZ and pro-motorist campaign, hopefully with a pledge to sort out this terrible pothole problem that's plaguing our streets and also promising actual cost saving measures such as reviewing the nominee pass and its usage alongside the excessive wage and compensation packages that a lot of TfL staff get. Working in a healthcare I've seen how much the general public actually resent transport workers following the strikes, many comment on the doctor's right to strike when transport staff who are paid considerably more are out there making the lives of working people miserable. Tower Hamlets is a shining example, what *should* be a Labour area is currently run by a party that shouldn't be anywhere near power because of Labour's consistent and blind insistence that people care about the environment and would sacrifice themselves for it. Lutfur Rahman managed to win by giving the local population what they actually wanted which wasn't all the LTNs and excessive traffic but by promising more car charging points and introducing local car pooling instead. But a key manifesto pledge was to not penalise motorists as they are not responsible for the majority of air pollution, even going so far as to offer 5 hours of free parking to Tower Hamlets permit holders outside of their home zone. That is what the people wanted. He even promised to monitor the cycle lane usage in comparison to the disruption on public transport. Now for me a corrupt past should mean you never get allowed to hold office, but it's very easy to see why people voted for him and how he had such a sweep in the last election.

Ulez: Complaints upheld over four radio advertsComplaints about adverts promoting London's ultra-low emission zone (Ulez) have been upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-68215484 Most of the stats used by TfL and The Mayor's Office are fake modelled projected stats that some party has been paid for by taxpayers funds, to have the stats appear to make their cause look good. The use of pick a number of how many deaths we could have saved by doing this, how many people might die if we don't do this, to make yourself look good just shows how morally corrupt 21st century politics has become ... especially when is is not evidenced or based in fact whatsoever.

That is why anytime I see those stupid adverts from TfL I change the tv channel or on radio I change the station. It is just cringe-worthy bull poo and lies that only primary school kids could be hoodwinked with.

Interesting that TfL have been illegally using the Italian Police to charge EU motorists ULEZ fines. It is said to be the biggest data breach in EU history. Does not reflect well on London at all.

WH241 one of my family relatives showed me a picture from Newham council stating how they're going to do a blanket 20mph across the borough in 5 stages. I really do feel sorry for your borough. That borough is in the pits. First the emissions tax and now this. I think only Woolwich Manor Way and the A13 are exempt from it.

Seen lots of new signage on side roads. To be honest no one is going to stick to that speed limit unless enforced by cameras. I am not a speed freak and rarely exceed speed limits but really find 20mph hard to stick to especially as 30mph has been the normal speed limit for what seems for ever. Just so used to starting off and up to third or fourth gear.

Not at all surprised by this. Only the disillusioned fools would have thought ULEZ was going to make a difference. Newham council has been on a road painting spree with 20mph circles on most roads around E16 since yesterday! Honestly its so depressing, I am not sure how strictly this will be enforced but I do find it painful driving at 20mph compared to 30.
