Whilst I can understand dissatisfaction with the current government if you want to see what it'll be like with a Labour government then look at Wales. Less than half the electotate bothered to vote at all in Mid Bedfordshire. That's still less than half the electorate that didn't vote Tory, everyone that stayed at home didn't vote Tory either so clearly weren't interested in them. Even if the turnout was still low, that low turn out historically would still result in a Tory win. Labour despite the low turnout increased their voters. By elections never really gain as much votes. Would be interesting to see if it garners the same momentum come the general election. Most people just do not vote mid-term or by elections as they do not see it as important.

Normally the least successful by-elections or local elections for governments are mid-term then gradually people become more forgiving and accepting towards the incumbent government (even though usually not enough to secure a similar majority or even re-election).
However, last year we were getting swings of 12% to Labour, at Wakefield and Chester for example, but now 20%.

The police should be doing their job properly and not allowing these pro Palestine protests to take place on Armistace day which I think is really offensive. Not to mention that a lot of the people protesting in the Pro Palestine protests are antisemitic

Never saw that coming!! James Cleverly has replaced Braverman and Cameron has taken the Foreign Secretary role. Either way I only had Bravermans sacking on my list for today. But she had to go because whilst I don’t support these marches for Palestine they have, for 99% of attendees, been largely peaceful. Her words did raise tensions with the EDL types.

The Home Secretary does not have the authority to direct police operations and the public has a right to protest peacefully, a right the Met has upheld.

Agree, especially as the Met Commissioner confirmed earlier last week that they were monitoring counterterrorism chatter and could find no legal reason to stop the march. Yes, there were isolated incidents of antisemitism and breakout groups of radicals but that happens at every protest. Banning it would have done even more harm as those people would have still been on the streets but angry rather than peaceful.

They shouldn't be protesting on Armistace day which is the issue here. Why, armistice day is about promoting peace and honouring those lost during war. Not just wars involving the UK but all war. This protest is about bringing peace to Palestine which we can all agree with. You don’t have to agree with terrorist methods used by Hamas but peace is something we should all want for the region.

How can Cameron be in the cabinet when he’s not a MP or peer.

How can Cameron be in the cabinet when he’s not a MP or peer. He has been given the title Barony of the United Kingdom for life so is now Lord Cameron and can sit in the House of Lords. Subsequently also means he can be Foreign Secretary.

I do agree that any protest or march organised on Armistice day is tasteless
