Which is why I still operators will order the BYD ones given they will be more familiar with them and some will have already built decent numbers up not to mention they come in more acceptable lengths for TfL operation Depends how highly the BYD/ADL product is regarded. Previously, the competition was just Switch which did not work ... maybe the BYD/ADL product is not all that operators desire. It is no longer the only product that works. But how well? Of course that will play a part but despite the fact ADL/BYD had a huge volume of orders, others were still flocking to them over Switch unless there was the need for a shorter length vehicle which the Metrodecker meets unlike the BYD currently. I don't think Stagecoach will deviate away whilst Go-Ahead has a large number already - it remains to be seen whether Arriva go for more EA's and what Abellio & Metroline, the latter which I suspect will switch to a dual order model of BZL's & Electroliners anyway given their history of Wrightbus & Volvo products.

Here was the ADL presser from when the order was placed:
Here are some photos of the production batch. HK bus fans aren't too sure what the bus in your link is for given that it has KMB-spec but isn't in a green livery.
HK bus fans are happy that something other than mainland-Chinese electrics are being trialed. The only double decker electric (from an obscure mainland brand) in operation so far in HK hasn't been very convincing. BYD are also selling integral products there too and a number of single deckers have been put into service whilst the double decker equivalent is still undergoing testing before entering revenue service.
I do wonder if the HK market pushed ADL to manufacture their own integral EVs. The E500EV was announced much earlier than the rest of the new products. BYD was also scooping up the HK single decker trials/orders as I don't think it would be cost effective to order ADL/BYD bodywork given that mainland China is next door. The HK market is massive and I don't think ADL could've missed out on it.

As expected the new generation products will not be available for TfL delivery until 2024. And someone should tell ADL that the part of Parliament Square pictured in the CGI is two-way for cyclists only 😂😉

The job of a London bus driver is about the become more demanding! 🤣😂

Will be interesting to see which operators go for the new ADL EV range. Potentially orders could be placed quite soon, as tenders due to be awarded are mostly for early 2024 start dates.
Go Ahead and RATP both seem to be favouring ADL for all orders - will they go for the new version, or continue with BYDs for standardisation?
The other four major operators have all gone with Wright for their most recent orders, although Stagecoach have already placed an order for the new E400EV for outside of London. And Abellio don't seem particularly loyal to one manufacturer yet, so they might be interested too?

RATP has not really ordered anything since the diversification of orders commenced ... so I don't think we can confidently say that. It is an unknown. GAL yeah, and given the number of orders they are currently placing, a good customer for ADL to have/keep.

RATP is under new management now so there could well be the possibility of some different orders going forward plus the electric bus market has changed considerably since they last ordered vehicles with lots of new options
