They're also slower than the Me class Metrodeckers, perhaps purposely governed during pullaway stage as they do pick up power once they get going. Also bear in mind the ADL BYDs are long wheel base which contributes to a degree on overall performance I remember when DS got their SEe's for the 366 the drivers did at start struggle with driving them smoothly, probably because they were used to the slower Ee's from the 69 and the older E200s. Surely making the buses with a shorter wheelbase, would make them more manoeuvrable, and allow them to be used on routes with very tight turns

Isn’t it time for a new name? Enviro400 has been around since 2006 - getting somewhat long in the tooth now - the MMC suffix made some sense but now it’s just getting confusing - why are both the new integral ADL bus and the City-bodied BYD bus both called Enviro400EV?

If a name isn't broke then probably best not to fix it. It's why names like Samsung Galaxy and iPhone have been around for years.

The op makes a good point, they've gone from "BYD ADL ENVIRO400EV" to "ADL ENVIRO400EV", however since it isn't a consumer product, the naming isn't that relevant so as you say, if it's not broke, don't fix it. However, your latter point isnt a valid comparison to the original point as those are brand names and always carry some form of suffix such as S24 and 16

It’s ENVIRO400 to ENVIRO400MMC / ENVIRO400 CITY to BYD ADL ENVIRO400 CITY EV to ADL ENVIRO400 EV, the only one without a secondary name as such is the the new EV so if anything would be confused to be the same body as an original E400.

I had a ride on an ADL/BYD single decker yesterday.
Apart from the usual rattles it sounded like there was a canary in the cab. There were squeaks throughout the journey.
Hopefully ADL will have produced new buses that are so much better from a customer point of view.

The Word Salad could be reduced a little, but in China they love long model names... some names have done well for years, like the Volkswagen Golf for the past 48 years even the Ford Fiesta kept its name for its 46 year run. The MMC bit can go now, I think. Wrightbus are worse for confusing names, look at all the iterations of Streetdeck with Electroliner, Carbonliner, Ultroliner, HEV... thdn there's the Gemini3 of two types Would love to see Arriva buy some of these Enviro100's for the 318 in 8 years' time

Looks nice enough, quite a few steps up at the rear - can't remember if the Switch Metrocity has the same or not?

According to their Linkedin post, 69 are on order for TfL operators. So far, the only confirmed orders are: 32 for GAL and 24 for Stagecoach - this leaves a difference of 13. 13 is roughly the number of vehicles required by TUK for route G1, needing small EV buses. Coincidence?
