This bus SL1 is a joke!! Bus driver take too long to takeover and I was waiting for more than 30 minutes at Walthamsow central then it go slow along the road. Bus 34 seem caught up with us. I had put forward complaint to TfL about poor performance of SL1. Bus drivers need speed it up!!! As much as I respect Roger French, and many of his opinions and insights, I think the were a few sets of exceptional circumstances affecting the SL1 on the morning he travelled on the route. I'm sure without the accident and roadworks the SL1 will be a bit quicker. It's only on Day 4 of operation, I hope that things do get better over time.

They do have a valid point of the relief point being mid-route, it's an express route, the contract price should've included the additional cost of the drivers travelling to/from North Finchley from the garage.

There is no way that will happen when it passes the garage. However taking forever to changeover is a bit much… in addition AD are new to HAs.

I apologize to you all, I guess I just had a bad day today with all the horrible roadwork and traffic didn't help on both routes SL1 and SL10.

But he isn’t wrong, perhaps if TfL had done some research they could have delayed the introduction by a week to ensure it started with the best opportunity. It’s hardly a good look if three buses in a row turn early.

That's a good point, I thought the 607 ran far more efficiently from UX than it does now from G with time consuming midroute changeovers.

An extra stop was added to the 607 at Iron Bridge solely to facilitate driver changeovers. Absolute joke.

Something brought up was the removal of the Chapel Road stop (Presumably whoever raised that doesn't want people one stop hopping from Ilford to Barking) and TFL responded saying that the stop was required for driver changeovers.

Interesting that driver change overs are being done in Ilford rather than Barking. There's not much in the way of driver facilities at Chapel Road, apart from a toilet on the stand

There's not much in the way of driver facilities at Chapel Road, apart from a toilet on the stand I wonder if TfL engaged with potential operators prior to introduction. It'll probably be collusion if TfL knew that Arriva were to win the route this early on so I'd imagine they approached all potential bidders and asked where changeovers would take place and one of them which may not have been Arriva chose Ilford. That said I do wonder whether there's space for another route to changeover in Barking. The 5 has Barking Town Centre and upon GAL taking the 366 the changeover stop was moved to North Street, the 368 changes at Broadway theatre. I do dread to think if they add another changeover somewhere in the middle of all this.

SL3 will be using LTs, with its service commencing from 24th February 2024. Greenwich will now have a daytime LT route, and it means that all South London boroughs apart from Sutton and Croydon will have at least one regular route with them allocated. Surprised the area didn’t see any conversions sooner.

It’s hardly a good look if three buses in a row turn early. Problem is there is so much roadworks in the area. There was roadworks on the A406 at New Southgate westbound where everything went into one lane. Bounds Green station four way temporary traffic lights at the junction and another set of temporary lights in Brownlow Rd. It bought the whole area to a standstill in the morning and evening peaks with delays on many routes hitting 1 hour or more. Trouble is these roadworks were not planned, burst water mains apparently (well according to Thames Water)

Once this fact became clear I suppose TfL would have been free to discuss such details with Arriva. Not sure how the tendering timescale matched up with the consultation timescale, but at least we know there were no unsuccessful bidders who would have been discriminated against.
