Holly Willoughby is expected to deliver a statement regarding Phillip Schofield on her return to This Morning tomorrow. Will be interesting to see what she says. It is important to note that Holly and Phil haven't been speaking lately. The way that Holly has gone by the whole scandal is ridiculous because she threw Phillip under a bus to save her career. What else is she meant to do? Stand by him? She didn't know, and distanced herself when she did. I don't think you can expect much more from her. Honestly do you seriously believe those that worked closely with them had no inclin at all? They are distancing themselves now, but don't for one minute believe they knew nothing was going on! You work with people for years, and have no idea of inter-work relationships. Either you are stupid or it does not happen (referring to the co-workers and not the poster)

Even in the smallest work places you hear rumours when people hook up or more. Rumour fuels the work place.

It sounds like a career saving move however it at least shows that she didn't approve of his actions

I attest to that in regards to rumours fueling the workplace however, the issue with rumours where I work is 95% of them are a load of codswallop even if they are mainly innocent ones.

The thing with Schofield is that he works for one of the biggest broadcasting corporations in the UK, and it's highly likely that ITV knew about the rumours but chose to cover it up. It's like many at the BBC knew that Savile was a paedophile but they covered it up. Even the police knew but Savile was untouchable

Not much mention of Philip apart from at the beginning. Does show how much they have drifted away from each other, but hopefully the show can get better without Phil. It won't be easy for them to forget this though, it's a lie that's been going on for years.

I wish the media would move on from this story now. Yes its bad what Phillip Schofield did but the blanket media coverage is to much now.
This whole saga has gone from the queue jumping, then his brother being charged then to his relationship with the staff member.

Unfortunately if you are a celebrity and you do something controversial then say hello to the media circus following you around. Not the first time and won't be the last either. Some people like Eamonn Holmes even relish in this type of behaviour to someone. Phillip did something controversial but it's about time the circus died. I'm sure there's some people who will still want Phillip to be the laughing stock of itv though

Clarkson’s not wrong. Schofield hasn’t done anything illegal. Seems like a witch hunt to me. Where is all the moral outrage at men who sleep with younger female colleagues? And if the witch hunters are really concerned about morality rather than legality why are they not attacking Schofield for cheating on his wife? Boris Johnson has told far more lies and also had extra marital affairs, yet it’s perfectly ok for him to still hold a high profile public position. Schofield has dropped a bombshell about his sexuality on his poor wife, got a kicking for queuegate, found out his brother was a paedo and has now lost his job and probably his career. It’s time to leave him alone. For those that hate him, he will probably never return to TV again in any meaningful capacity so surely even they can be satisfied with the outcome.

If it was a case of a non-celebrity couple, no one would have batted an eyelid, they could have perceived them as father and son if they didn't do anything sexual. However since Phillip is a celebrity far more people will recognise him and will be asking questions about the relationship. For the media this is big news to cover, like the time when Wayne Rooney cheated on his wife in 2017 (was a bit different though, he wasn't doing anything with young men or women). I think it's also the fact that Schofield is considerably older than McGreevy which is adding controversy. As for Johnson, he already is having a relationship with someone considerably younger. I don't see anything wrong with that as long as it isn't an affair (not sure if he was seeing Carrie Symonds when he divorced his first wife though). Johnson has no morals though and definitely would not be acting the same way had he got into an affair.
