It is absolutely ridiculous that the first stop on the new W14 is not stop V where the W12 W15 W19 all serve towards Leytonstone and stop V is instead the alighting point. Whilst not far interchange wise, you have to walk to the stop with no shelter on Whipps Cross Road to use the W14 towards Loughton

I guess all the sabotaging has worked after all, intentionally renumbering the 549 into the W14 which I'm sure went very well and to have users finding out the direct links to Whipps Cross has been taken. Poor users on Nightingale Road now suffering from another service trim. Yet alone today with reports some TfL staff weren't 100% sure of the changes themselves and were just as confused, as well in addition to the ibus announcing the old services *cough * cough
Congratulations to the planner and the team behind this, for in my opinion one of the most bizarre ideas been implemented I've seen so far. Even then, I really do fail to comprehend as to what real rationale was really behind the changes for all the links and services to be pulled away.
I'm only aware it was to improve services at Coppermill Lane, Remove bus services away from Walthamstow Village, Allocate additional capacity between Leytonstone and Whipps Cross, Create a new direct link to Whipps Cross from Wantstead and improving service provision along the former 549's routing.
Whilst these as understood were the merits, my head's really spinning here as to at the same time why Nightingale Lane has to suffer from a frequency decrease? South Woodford links to Whipps Cross being taken away? Those on Snaresbrook and Woodford Roads having their direct Walthamstow Central links taken? TfL themselves has alot of explaining to do.
To really avoid all of this nonsense your simple task was the following:
1. Reinstate the former W12's frequency to at least 3bph with possibly enhancements to it's Sunday and Evening services as what's implemented. This would've improved Whipps Cross connections from South Woodford and service provision at Nightingale and Coppermill Lane.
2. Extend the former W13 from Leytonstone to Whipps Cross via the W19's LOR. This again would've created direct links to Whipps Cross Hospital from Wantstead as well allocate additional capacity between Leytonstone and Whipps Cross.
3. Enhance the former 549 to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturdays at least with an hourly service running in the evenings and on Sundays. Much of the route would've received much improved service provision than currently.

Don’t forget that there is a sizeable section that isn’t served by the Central Line between Buckhurst Hill & Woodford

Just whose idea was all these changes ??

W14 is supposed to be the new quicker link to WCH. What I can find out online it departs from Snaresbrook Station at approximately 43 minutes passed each hour to the hospital direct without faffing about in Leytonstone. Depending on the time of day it departs Snaresbrook Station from between 41 to 48 minutes passed the hour.

To me it’s terminal is more the only place they could find to dump the route and still serve Snaresbrook Road after the old W12 was rerouted. I would say the more frequent new W12 would be the better option for most passengers unless they really plan for the W14 and willing to walk from Whipps Cross.

Not a new quicker link though if you just miss it and have to wait an additional 59 minutes for the next one going there! These changes really are the most nonsensical set of changes dreamt up for a long time. Worse than a lot of the stuff put in the Fantasy changes thread!!

Problem is it does not go into the hospital grounds so if you do use it you have an unnecessary walk from the bus stand into the hospital. Seems the main pick up point for buses to the hospital is in Wanstead High Road as if you go to Snaresbrook you have to negotiate stairs and many of us are not keen to do that

The same Reason the frequency was cut before on the route and evening service got rid of , Diabolical set of changes , extremely confusing and pointless to save a few bucks , Tomorrow will be the big test , school kids and commuters and the drivers themselves not knowing what's going on in regards to giving information

Even though RV is on the branch, the frequency is still better than the W14.

The Central Line on the outer sections used to be absolutely dead after the peaks. Out of all the changes I feel for those on the back roads of Wanstead and Snaresbrook Road who have been screwed over by these changes. Anyone who thinks the W14 is a better link to the hospital clearly doesn’t have any local knowledge when you take into account the poor frequency. I would love to know more about the thinking about these changes and how on earth they got signed off. I thought the south Newham ones were bad but they have nothing on the W routes.

Not sure why you keep on bringing up changes that are very obviously a success judging by the increase in figures on those routes?

A new blog post from diamond geezer related to these changes, rightfully describing the situation of passengers not ending up where they want to be.
