And the SL7 itself is quite unreliable, I often see two bunching near Waddon or Carshalton when I go around there. Bunching on the SL5 wouldn't be horrific per say as the 119 still will be there to help and aid out like it has done for its existence between Croydon and Bromley, but I would expect to see it's passenger numbers slightly increase. I have a feeling it would thrive even more under 5 bph (high frequency route therefore now headway based instead of timetable) with the right management from control. Despite the slight unreliability, the pax numbers are still increasing in numbers as the months go on. I believe the 1 year anniversary of the changes was recently so would be nice to see a comparison of numbers on the route (and the affect on the existing corridors) I believe the route is already operated using headway even though it is low frequency (see the stats on TfL's website which are based on headway), but I certainly agree the SL7 needs to be upped to 5bph regardless as the route is generally always overcrowded in my experience.

I doubt I could find it now but it was very much a message throughout the General Election about how he would be working with central government to get things like Superloop 2 started etc. Superloop 2 was an election pledge by the MoL (like the 310) and was not reliant on funding from, what was at the time, an unknown government pending a general election. Additional funds are only needed for large costly infrastructure projects that would significantly benefit other parts of the country. Think new trains, new train lines (e.g. Bakerloo extension, DLR to Thamesmead etc). Adding a few bus routes does not fall into the same magnitude of cost or national impact, so I think you may have got confused with the meaning behind any statement Unless a new statement has been made directly stating that Superloop 2 needs additional government funding, then nothing has changed. TfL will still be working on proposals for consultation at an unspecified date. We might hear more from the MoL soon in response to this motion requesting collaboration to prioritise bringing Superloop to underserved communities in Waltham Forest, Havering and the more rural parts of Bromley…. So if you want to speculate, ‘SL5 to….Orpington Station. We've perhaps been spoiled by how fast Superloop 1 came about? Amazing what political impetus can do with an election in the near-term huh!

Was thinking today, would potentially be good for the future SL-493 to route to Wimbledon via Copse Hill using the junction with Coombe Lane since there aren't any buses that go that way and could remove the need for the 200 to double run via Copse Hill, but is the capacity/service needed between Tibbet's Corner and Wimbledon along 93 route?

The 200 with DDs is more than adequate for the Copse Hill stretch and the SL route should focus on directly shadowing the 93 and 493 which are busier. I think the only benefit would be if there was a physical restriction which affected capacity on the 200 and there is not.

And adding onto this post, I wonder if there would be merit in sending this route to Morden via the 93. On one hand the 93 can get busy very easily and would benefit from some support, on the other hand it would be pretty useless for the tons of people who ram onto the 93 heading to and from North Cheam from the tube

Hopefully it uses bendy buses - imo the only suitable vehicles for a proper BRT. In all honesty at the minimum three doored double decker buses should, the ELT was an amazing use case for the open boarding on LTs and it still is a huge gain as there are two staircases on each bus.

Actually the 244, 301, 380 and 472 all do an excellent job of bring people between Thamesmead and Woolwich quickly. There are big fat bus lanes along the A206 which are very effective at making the journey rapid. Plus all the reasons suggested in that article.

I agree - when other parts of London are losing connections, you would at least hope they would be spending it on Superloop routes that bring about new connections like Superloop 1 did. Duplicating the SL3 doesn’t look like money well spent and the 472 is hardly a lumbering, slow hulk of a route
