I am sure everyone has seen the widespread rioting and protesting on the news over the last few days. Tonight is expected to be bad with up to 100 protests across the country. I am pretty shocked at the amount of misinformation being posted on Social Media. The is one video in particular that is one year old and shows a group of bikers on the A406 at Woodford who shut the road which has been shared a lot today as happening recently. The Daily Express has even got into the act and made a story out of it.
Lets hope tonight passes off without too much disruption and people stop posting fake information or threats to people not to come to certain areas as they only antagonizes things more. Personally I don't think the counter protests help matters but can understand why they take place.

Social media has a lot to answer for and the people who own and operate these sites should be held accountable for what they allow to be posted on their sites. It's perfectly possible to design algorithms that take people towards verified information rather than unchecked sensationalism. X is particularly inflammatory; some of Elon Musk's own comments are incendiary and he clearly has no desire to calm the situation down. If he sets foot in the UK he should be arrested.

Sometimes we let people of the hook. Only a small percentage of people will innocently fall for misinformation (minus major media doing poor research or looking for clicks), many more look for something that affirms their views. What is really happening is alot of people want to join in with the chaos and particularly with mass numbers they think they can get away with something. The ones with bad intentions want something to kick off and get out of hand so that in 30 minutes their in some business shop looting not caring that they are ruining people's livelihoods. Lets hope things are quiet but it is a shame that we have disruption already to services as people know something is going to kick off. Police should have more powers to be proactive when the intel is so clear. That would also hopefully increase the chances of them getting hurt. What a bad month or so since the police ad came promoting recruitment. We have had at least 5/6 different police incidents that would make people second guess doing the job. But we need them.

Buses have already started to be pulled from Walthamstow, one of the areas that a planned "protest" is expected to take place at 8pm.
I've taken the precaution to stay at home tonight and advised my family on safe places to park vehicles. If my fears come true, this will be like the riots exactly 13 years ago when it was sporadic and countrywide. It may be a difficult night for EMT workers and transport staff.

It is early in the evening but suspect we might have reached the peak of the violent protests. I suspect those intent on causing trouble have realised the game is up and are back tracking. It is looking like they wanted to have the final say and all the "planned" protests were never going to take place but wanted to waste police time and resources.

Sounds more like people going on a rampage for fun rather then any actually protest (on either side). They often end up as the worst riots.

From all the footage there has been, these riots are pretty much one sided in terms of going on a rampage for fun. There has only been one instance since the Southport tragedy where a non far right riot was behaving extremely poorly which was in Birmingham.

I guess I now know what it felt like to live through to the 70's to an extent.
The far right has been looking for an excuse to kick off since the Tories culture wars nonsense, the cooking up of schemes like Rwanda & Reform UK just existing with the bile pouring out from them. The fact Farage still defends the misinformation surrounding the Southport killer shows he is actually loving these riots, just like Robinson on his sunbed in Cyprus and that very same misinformation was the ignition kicking in and lighting the place on fire.
These rioters are pretty thick though - doing Farage & Robinsons dirty work for them isn't going to make their life better. Nor is sending all Muslims and other immigrants back home - not unless they're going to start cleaning the streets and collecting the rubbish and that's not to mention filling in the roles in the NHS. Looting shops and burning people's businesses down won't "bring you back your country" whatever on earth that actually means - as someone put it online, "I didn't know Britain was hiding in Shoe Zone"
It was great to see the communities of Walthamstow & Finchley in particular gather together, peacefully too, and send out exactly the right message to these far right thugs. London was always going to react far more strongly to these idiots because it's far more diverse than anywhere else in the UK and it's very telling that the majority of the unrest has been in the North and only really confined to England & Northern Ireland. There was a small thing in Cardiff and there were reports of "men with southern accents" gathering in large groups at Glasgow Central Station but it seems like the Scots probably scared them off. The reporting by the media suggesting it's the whole UK is incredibly wide of the mark - it's mainly Northern England with a couple of southern places.

In Croydon today it is classed as antisocial behaviour and not rioting ... Is that because it was not white people doing it. Starmer and Cooper are rapidly losing this country ... they are making the political divide deeper than ever ... what a great recruitment tool for the right are those two! Driving many people to Reform.

Driving many people to Reform. How are two people who have barely been in power for long dividing the country exactly? They've made adequate reforms and very quick reforms to the justice system and we've seen punishments handed out within hours as a result. This is just like America in 2021 where the right wingers couldn't accept they lost the election so went on a rampage.

Like many of us I was fearing the worst last night.
But alas it's over, period! The far right scumbags have lost, the people last night spoke clearly and unambiguously and it wasn't them.
The boats didn't get stopped it was the far right cretins instead - okay if the former is your thing, we speak at the ballot box, not with bricks and baseball bats.
