Seeing the note on the East Putney line reminded me on how rare it is. (I know some empty trains use it). I think in last 15 years got diverted from Wimbledon one morning, and had a couple of rush hour evening trains from Waterloo. All because of blockages on main line via Earlsfield, so about 1 in 2000 journeys went that way. I have done the now closed East Putney up spur. It was a Southern Region Merrymaker to Blackpool (for the lights) from Brockenhurst (main stations to Woking). Was about 40 years ago and also included the Kensington Olympia to Willesden line when it didn't have a passenger service. From memory was mark1s with a 33, then either a class 82 or 83 to Preston and a 47 to Blackpool. Excursion trains were common then and was about 10 trains leaving Blackpool North after 10pm on a Saturday to different places. Nowadays extra trains running early hours of Sunday doesn't happen, but running wrong line around engineering works with hand signalling was ok then. Sorry for nostalgia moment East Putney up Spur? Man! That's nostalgia! It's a handy diversionary route but only Waterloo, Wimbledon and Basingstoke (?) sign it. Mainly used for empties but I believe an early morning passenger train uses it, a 444 from Southampton. There are also a couple of late night services too. www.psul4all.free-online.co.uk/2016.htm page down to the relevant entry.

The first Class 707 has arrived (707 001)!! But in its first full day in the UK, it has been vandalised! It has been moved into the shed at Clapham Yard for cleaning. I highly doubt they would appear on Shepperton or Guildford services, so I will barely see them, as I use the line via Wimbledon (unless they are being based at Wimbledon). I think they would just stick to Windsor services, despite being in SWT's Metro red livery. I wonder what they would be like compared to the 700's onboard.

It got done on 49 road in Clapham, the sidings that stretch nearly as far as Wandsworth town. I'm sure they won't be doing that again, unless there's some security put into place. You might see them on the shepperton via Richmond services that run in the morning peak because they are formed or go onto form the Hounslow Loop services. If they don't change the timetable or stock allocations you'll be in luck.

On a semi-related topic, the 700's out-stabled at Ferme Park are watched 24/7 by the Network Rail Land sheriff's, after a few 700's where vandalised allover two carriages deep. I'm surprised that it was stabled on 49 road and not underneath the sheds in the actual yard.

But I think it was something to do with the planed slow speed movements of the units, and also in 49 road they are sort of out of the way of other needed roads. I'll find out more when I return to work tomorrow.

Have you been opening your prezzies early? Not quite. Although two more units appear to have been delivered overnight. Spotted them while on the way to Reading

Yes, someone told me they were at CLJ (38 road or thereabouts) but haven't seen them yet...

The two new units are 707003 and 707004. So we have 7001, 3 and 4 in Clapham yard. No sign of 7002 yet.

Yeah the seating layout is less than the current trains but London overground trains could have a less capacity(?) and nobody really complains about them. Plus at least ours run as 10's (albeit you can't walk through the two units)

I think units 01 and 02 are temporarily fitted with pantographs and transformers, and unit 02 was to do some sort of certification work on ac lines (this is to get operating cert, ready for 717s etc (Moorgate route units). Guess it will be moved to SWT after these validation tests. Would expect 05 and 06 to turn up soon though, there was a gap in build of few months after unit 6, units 07-30 are expected about April-Nov 2017, ready for Dec 2017 timetable (which sees many more 10 car suburban workings)

I had overlooked the fact 7002 was going to be used elsewhere first. 7005 and 7006 i assume were to be delayed because of the closure of the Windsor lines because of works needed at Queenstown Road. However it's been completed ahead of schedule. Whether or not this will speed up the next delivery who knows. South Sidings is now officially closed and seems to be a dumping ground for a lot of materials needed for the 10 car suburban infrastructure works needed on platforms 1-4. Things seem to be, for now, and hopefully remain, on schedule.

707005 was reported to have arrived at Clapham Junction in the early hours of this morning (according to a post on Rail UK), bringing the 707s up to 4 units. 001 has also had its 'special paint job' removed.
The next delivery should comprise of two units in a fortnight...
