Not sure where to put this There is a proposed 2 year suspension of road improvements (except those deemed essential) has been agreed (presumably as part of the mayors budget tomorrow) Link

Not necessarily bus related but I have just seen 3 cars pass a temporary traffic light whilst it was on red which could have led to an accident.I dont see how people get away with this.😤

A 191 driver passed two sets of red traffic lights on one journey. However unfortunately for this driver a mystery traveller was on board this journey. The driver driving was deemed so unsafe that GAL were ordered to remove this driver straight away from the road. On the return trip, a ferry was waiting at Biard Road to swap this driver for another. Upon investigation by management at NP, it was deemed necessary to sack this driver, partly also down to previous problems with this particular individual, who is appealing this judgment but nobody is confident with the chances this driver has got. This example does show operators do take these type of incidents seriously so it is always worth reporting incidents so the company can take the appropriate action.

It just goes to show you always have to bring your A game to work, especially with the general public and when their safety is in your hands. There's a hughe difference between 'jumping' lights as it's about to change and simply passing a set of red lights with full intent to break the law. Personally I think a one-off incident would warrant a severe slap on the wrist, but as grubbysa eluded to, this mystery traveller was likely there to catch this paticular individual out and/or see if he has vastly improved his driving quality before they were deemed unroadworthy. On a similar tangent, I think I was confused for a mystery traveller this week on the DLR! Was visiting my friends in Ladywell, and I like to return before the DLR was not running in Lewisham. At this time of night when trains are heading to depots, I often time myself for a Lewisham- Gallions Reach train avoiding the need to change trains twice!! Anyway, I didn't do that on Tuesday night, instead a train from Lewisham to Poplar and then to Gallions Reach. As I was changing at Poplar, the PSAs were having a little chat to themselves, I thought nothing of it as it's commonplace at that station, and I was listening to music so didn't pay attention. Next thing I hear are announcements every other stop as if the train was bustling with passengers. It was only me on board as a passenger for my entire journey!! Found it extremely fishy that I've been travelling late night on the DLR for donkey's but this week was the first announcement I heard over the tannoy past 1am.....

Good to know that there are mystery travellers about and that action is being taken about bad drivers. I didn't report the driver on the 148 but thinking about it I probably should have done.

Something I see regularly on some of the operators with a bad reputation (Excetera, Trustybus, Hallmark etc) is phones at the wheel. It makes me feel sick how could a driver of a public service vehicle put his/her passengers at such a risk. How would one as a passenger react in this situation? Confront the driver? Ignore it?

I would most definitely report that to either the operator or the police, every bit as serious as drink driving in my opinion. A few years ago I saw a coach driver on the phone, whilst carrying school children to make it worse, and I phoned the company immediately. I got a call back later saying that they had investigated the matter and verified that he was indeed on the phone whilst driving and as a result he had been sacked and they thanked me for bringing it to their attention.

This is happening a lot - I meant to reply to this yesterday but was brought back to my head tonight after I witnessed a 330 at Canning Town station traffic lights go through a red light - no doubt it was probably about to finish and head back to WH. I have noticed it a lot when buses are leaving Walthamsow Bus Station they tend to creep out on reds. Also happens a lot at Aldgate if traffic is bad from Commercial road onto Whitechapel Hight Street (Route 115)

I saw a driver on the 148 blatantly jump a red light at Elephant & Castle recently. I have noticed it a lot when buses are leaving Walthamsow Bus Station they tend to creep out on reds. It always amsues me with the new traffic light timing when a clear flow phase happens for the bus station and buses then block the yellow box which in turn blocks buses entering the bus station which then backs up and blocks the yellow box junction at the junction of Hoe Street which ends up gridlocking the whole area, so much for these professional drivers at the wheel of a bus, then again the shocking driving you see from Car Drivers when you spend all day driving a bus is actually worrying

Also happens a lot at Aldgate if traffic is bad from Commercial road onto Whitechapel Hight Street (Route 115) I’m not condoning it but I can understand it happening at Walthamstow Central Bus Station due to, I’m assuming, a short single phase which must frustrate drivers when they get blocked in. It happens a lot at the Brixton Police Station junction due to short signal phasings for both Gresham Road & the contraflow bus lane where buses jump the red light.

It happens a lot at the Brixton Police Station junction due to short signal phasings for both Gresham Road & the contraflow bus lane where buses jump the red light. The phasing at Walthamstow is variable and is now properly linked to the traffic lights at Hoe St. As the exit has been widened so left and right turns are separate there is far less queuing in the bus station. The big problem is idiotic car drivers who do not understand what yellow boxes are and thus block the entrance and exits. I can understand bus drivers getting mightily "fed up" with this. If the police were there in plain clothes they'd be able to book about 100 people an hour. It is truly astonishing to stand there and watch the sheer level of driving incompetence.
