Seems the "TfL haven't a clue" syndrome continues. The Vic Line is being closed down early tonight between Walthamstow and Seven Sisters for emergency engineering work. There is also a late start tomorrow morning. On the advice poster for alternative bus routes TfL say the 123 serves Blackhorse Rd, Tottenham Hale and Seven Sisters. Of course it doesn't serve there at all. I have told TfL their information is wrong. Still this vindicates my long held view that TfL were barking mad not to retain either the 123 or 230 as running via Seven Sisters when the gyratory was changed. I warned them you needed to keep a bus. Poor souls affecting by this closure will have to trek to / from Monument Way / T Bus Garage to reach the tube. And, of course, the N73 now finishes much earlier than in the past so people needing early morning transport are completely stuck. You couldn't make this rubbish up. Surely there should be replacement buses? Not much fun for anybody who doesn't know the area being dumped at Seven Sisters after midnight and being left to fend for themselves.

When I said schedulers, I was not excluding London Buses input, or lack of. One hand not knowing what the other hand's doing, and all that. Apologies to bring this up again, Green Kitten is right. The tender specs for the 68 states that "the last bus should depart no earlier than 2345 from West Norwood". So I wouldn't say it was a cock up on anyone's part. So, not a cock-up; that leaves conspiracy or stupidity, by my reckoning. What do you think?

The 'large' gap is actually only 18 minutes. The last 68 now leaves Euston at 0005 and arrives at Kingsway at 0011, the first N68 arrives Kingsway at 0028 or 0029, depending on the day of the week. I presume the three withdrawn 68 journeys overlapped the start of the N68 which is now deemed to be superfluous to requirements. Actually it seems to be a typo on Robert's site. It's the last three journeys to Euston that are being withdrawn. There will now be a gap of well over an hour between the last northbound 68 (2345 from West Norwood) and the first northbound N68 (0104/0106 through West Norwood). Previously the last northbound 68 was at 0037 from West Norwood. While the 468 will still be providing a service over most of the route during this gap, and HOPPER FARE HOPPER FARE etc., it's still pretty shoddy. People are used to the idea of the 68 and N68 combining to provide a 24-hour service - a 79-minute gap in this service is not very helpful. In my view it's more important that the N68 interworks with the 468 and it does as far as I can see. There are worse places to end up in for onward connections than the Elephant!

Bit surprised that it hasn't been mentioned here, but the 169 has new Clayhall announcements with announcing as '169 to Clayhall, The Glade'. Apparently this announcement has been like this for the past few weeks. Anyway just found a video on YouTube demonstrating the new announcements: youtu.be/ldAmBDSnvhU

Albeit, everything else terminating at Brixton Station still announces just ‘Brixton’.

I remember when my 135 headed to OLD Street Station thinking that the emphasis of not being New Street Station (in Birmingham) sounded deliberate!

Wish they'd update the blinds to Brixton Station as apposed to just 'Brixton' In fact, I'd wish they extend the 109, 118, 250 & 432 in service to Brixton Academy given all four routes run past the stop currently but thats asking for a lot

In saying that I do agree with you in the idea of an extension, perhaps doing so with just the 432 from the Tulse Hill direction and the 109 from the Streatham area.

Route 161 show just chislehurst on stagecoach. Before takeover, go ahead show chislehurst war memorial. I don't know why? TfL specify the blind displays in its contracts, so it could be that TfL changed it to just Chislehurst to reflect the 161 taking in quite a lot of the area before terminating at the War Memorial. There's also the possibility however that Stagecoach (or other operators) deliberately didn't get qualifiers printed into the blind to save on money. Without seeing the tender specifications for the new contract of the 161, it can only be guesswork; but it's likely that Stagecoach were asked to display Chislehurst on the 161.

Seeing as TfL haven’t bothered to put any travel details for the London Marathon on their website, does anyone know if bus travel for runners in the morning is free again, as in previous years? I will be using the 89 to get to the start. Thanks.

I will be using the 89 to get to the start. Thanks. I suspect a lot will depend on DLR strike, if the buses are carrying extra passengers, skint TfL probably be glad of extra revenue. There was a news story yesterday evening marathon organisers will be sending out travel update to competitors due to DLR strike
