I must say the recent orders of single decker MMC's coming with the Voith gearbox are starting to be very boring, I wonder whether there will be a change back to using the Allison or ZF gearboxes. I did sample the DLE's, Abellio's new batch and they are dissapointing in my opinion, for. Stop start are now available on all gearboxes according to what I have been told so I'm not sure what the preference of the lazy gearbox (Voith) came from?

I don't think we'll see any ZF Tronic ones anytime soon other than the ones already in London & elsewhere - drivers don't like them as well apparently. I heard somewhere that stop start is available on other boxes as I was hoping for some Allison ones (Voith isn't as nice as it once was from Euro V onwards due to the short gear ratios) By DLE's, do you mean RATP's latest ones or Abellio's last batch they brought in?

The RATP for LU's first MMC's till now and Abellio's latest MMC, they feel like they like to be driven very slow. They don't have character to them either. I wonder whether they were programmed to be more environmentally friendly by programming them to be this lazy.

I think they are as they all have extremely short gear ratios to aid in fuel consumption or something along those lines. Gone are the days when Voith sounded so brilliant on almost anything.

The voith trident and Voith citaros were so iconic in central london and deep south, you could hear them from a mile away, driven to nuts and fast vehicles. Diesels are somewhat becoming ever slower over the years.

Recently, I've noticed that some buses have had a little Diamond shaped "R" sticker applied to the bottom left on their front windscreen. Metrobus's 190 has this when it never had it prior to when I saw it on Tuesday, and I thought it was just something applied by Go-Ahead, but then the next day I had one of the 433 E200's, think it was 8778, and it had the same sticker on the front windscreen. Is this to signify perhaps that the bus has had Euro VI modifications done?

The sticker is added when a bus is fitted with new kit, so it can be tested.

Whilst today may have been filled with highs elsewhere we mustn’t forget that today marks the 13th anniversary since the atrocious bombings on the London Transport Network in 2005. This is so overlooked these days which is dissapointing.
Thoughts go out to the 52 deceased as well as their families.

They started at Bromley and completed the 1000th vehicle at Camberwell this week. The old and the new systems work together until all buses in London are completed. The R stickers confirm the bus has been fitted.

I hope they do hold on to Spirit given it’s symbolism - an upgrade to Euro VI would keep the vultures away as well as sorting the issues it has.

Much more character imo and the symbolism helps of course.

Not been on an EvoSeti bus 13 in the really hot weather - until today. I have travelled on Boilmasters top deck front row and never thought another London bus could compete with how hot they become. All I can say is that the Boilmaster has met its match and more! The EvoSeti, sorry BakeSeti, felt really hot when I got on, but when I went upstairs it was truly horrendous. I sat down and suddenly my bum felt on fire, from the hot seat. I dread to think what the temperature was on that bus. I don't know if there was something wrong with this particular bus, or if all EvoSetis are really BakeSetis! I would be surprised if they were given they are manufactured by MCW who I think are Egyptian, a country better known for its heat than cold, so you'd think they would know how to keep a bus cool!
