If the College Road routing can't be done, the 289 could be diverted via South Croxted Road and Alleyn Road (avoiding the low bridge at West Dulwich) into Dulwich Common. Route 54 would be re-extended to Croydon Town Centre/ West Croydon, to serve that part of the current 289 route. As for the Red Post Hill area failing a decker test, I'm not entirely convinced. I've seen many OOS deckers and rail replacement services use that road for a long time now. Well I trust Beaver's word on these things - if he says the 42 failed a route test round there then I'm inclined to believe him. The issue was only highlighted recently, apparently, which is why deckers have not been on the 42 recently. Probably just a minor problem that could be easily solved

No, I agree. Just saying, it wouldn't be totally out of the question in any situation. Of course, at the moment it would be pointless. Could extend it direct via the A2, but then your be duplicating the 499 from Bluewater, however also it would give Stone a link to Ebbsfleet it doesn't have at the moment aswell as parts of London. Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards It would only need one more bus on the half hourly 492

Not a bad idea. Only trouble is, no link to Victoria or Oxford Circus Red Arrow 511 Oxford Circus then as route 12 to Parlinment Square, then via 24 to Victoria, 507 to Waterloo then as 381 to London Bridge Far too indirect surely?

Some suggestions from me Cross rail connections 487 Extended Willesdon Junction to Acton Main Line Station 428 extended Erith to Abbey Wood U8 New route Uxbridge, Cowley, Iver, Iver Station, Poyle, Colnbrook, Longford, Heathrow Central. Others ... N3 diverted at Croydon Road to run to Croydon via the 75 N176 extended from Penge to Bromley via former N3 289 Extended Elmers End to Anerley Station 358 24 hour service introduced. 432 Extended Anerley Station to Norwood Junction 492 Extended non stop from Bluewater to Ebbsfleet International. 505 New Red arrow service , London Bridge station to Oxford circus via Moorgate, Barbican, Clerkenwell Road, rt 55 to Oxford Circus. I would extend the N176 to Croydon via the 197 route. Extend the 249 and 432 to Elmers End using the current 54/289 stand. Not sure if a 24hr 358 and the N3 to Bromley can both be justified? Maybe the N47 should be rerouted via PRU Hospital although Petts Wood would lose its night service?

As much I would like to see a N service via the 358 routeing I have always felt it would be at the expense of the N3 between Beckenham and Bromley or maybe even Crystal Palace and Bromley and links would be broken and I think it would still be better to have the N3 not a 24h 358. Maybe the N47 could be split say every 30 via Petts Wood and every 30mins via Farborough but renumber I section. Or possibly a (N) 261 that continues to Orpington given PRU Hospital a Night service as there must be late night shift changes there.

Extend the 64 to Tooting Broadway.
Thornton Heath Pond, Galpins Road, South Lodge Avenue/ Pollards Hill, Sherwood Park Road, Tamworth Road, Mitcham Eastfields Station, Locks Lane, Figge's Marsh/ Tooting Station and Tooting Broadway Station.
It would add around 4 miles to the current 7.8 mile long route, but it would create a lot of links, especially around Pollards HIll/ Eastfields.

Reintroducing the KCC sponsored Route 21 journey from West Kingsdown that survived right up until the creation of the 321 in 1997 but adding a return too and also making it Limited Stop. So Route X21 (peak hours only): West Kingsdown - Farningham - Swanley - Foots Cray - Sidcup - New Eltham - Lewisham - New Cross - Old Kent Road - London Bridge - Bank - Moorgate. One journey in each direction would do the full route, then 5 others shorts between Foots Cray and Moorgate.

N154 - Morden - Sutton - Wallington - Croydon - Norwood - Crystal Palace 494 - Sutton - Cheam - Ewell - Epsom - Ashstead - Leatherhead I like the idea of the N154 but the 494 would never happen. the 470 provides the Sutton-Epsom link and between Epsom and Leatherhead is not TFL responsibility.

N154 - Morden - Sutton - Wallington - Croydon - Norwood - Crystal Palace 494 - Sutton - Cheam - Ewell - Epsom - Ashstead - Leatherhead I think rather than create a new night route, an extension of the N2 or N176 could do the same role but terminate it at Sutton - that's my own personal thought anyway

Was looking through a notepad I found under my bed with old ideas for extensions and new routes - most wacky but a few which were sensible
12 - Extended back to Notting Hill Gate via the 390 from Oxford Circus. As a consequence, the 390 would be withdrawn between Notting Hill Gate & Oxford Circus leaving it free to be extended at it's northern end though thats not the purpose of withdrawing it from that section. This would remove another route from Oxford Street and would help out the 148 between Marble Arch & Notting Hill Gate.
249 - Before the 249 was extended to Clapham Common, I thought of a extension from Tooting Bec to Wandsworth via Trinity Road, Hugenot Place (westbound), East Hill, Marcilly Road (eastbound), Wandsworth High Street, Garratt Lane - terminating next to the Arndale car park. This would of created a new link between Streatham & beyond.
289 - An extension to Beckenham Junction via Croydon Road, High Street, Bromley Road - terminating in St. George's Road. Buses would return via St. George's Road, Albermale Road before rejoining High Street. However, I wouldn't use this one as the 54 does the same job already.

A few from me:
414 - Withdraw the 414 between Hyde Park Corner and Maida Hill and reroute it via the 14 to Tottenham Court Road. This will relief the busy 14.
430 - Extend the 430 from South Kensington to Maida Hill via the withdrawn section of the 414 between Hyde Park Corner and Maida Hill. This will relief the busy 74.
E1 - Extend the E1 from Greenford Broadway to Harrow Bus Station via the 92 to Sudbury Hill and the H17 to Harrow. This will provide Harrow a link with Ealing and Greenford, provide the H17 with extra capacity and to relief the 92.

That would make the 414 one of the most pointless bus routes, unless you extend it further e.g. to Holborn, King's Cross or Wimbledon, Wandsworth, Roehampton etc.

It would be simpler to just extend the 430 to TCR although in all honesty I think the existing 14 service is more than adequate. The 430 is a bit of a poiintless route anyway, may as well extend the 74 back to Roehampton and axe the 430
