Extend the 415 Beyond elephant and Castle via Old Kent Road And Rothethithe New Road to Canada Water.
Extend 381 to Vauxhall (or new route from Clapham Junction to Canada water via 77 and 381).
I like the idea that I believe swSimon made before, a new bus route from Hammersmith to Wimbledon via the 220 and 93.

459 Shades of the old 491 here 421 : Eltham (Southend Crescent) - Waterloo via Lee Green, Lewisham, New Cross, Old Kent Road and Elephant and Castle. Would relieve some of the pressure on route 321, as well as providing a link to zone 1 from Eltham, and between Lewisham and Elephant. 459 : Thamesmead Town Centre - Bluewater via Bentham Road, Abbey Wood, New Road, Upper Belvedere, Brook Street, Northumberland Heath, Barnehurst, Crayford, Dartford and Darenth Valley Hospital. New links from areas not yet linked to Darenth Valley Hospital and Bluewater.

Some years ago, London Coaches tried to resurrect the old 491, but it sadly came to nothing.

Extend the 415 Beyond elephant and Castle via Old Kent Road And Rothethithe New Road to Canada Water. I really like this idea, would be useful for me at least! It would also provide a quicker alternative route to the 188 between the Elephant and Canada Water, avoiding the traffic-clogged Tower Bridge Road. Carrying on to Deptford would be alright, but I would imagine the traffic levels would be a concern there.

Route 550- a limited stop route combining route 50 & 137. Runs between Croydon Flyover- Oxford Circus, offering an easier way into Central London. Operated by Arriva with DLA's, VLA's and DW's (MK1 only), every 14 minutes. Calls at: Croydon Library, Park Street, Whitgift Centre, Talbot Road, Thornton Heath Stn, Braemar Avenue, Norbury Station, Streatham Station, St Leonard's Church, Streatham Hill Station, Atkins Road, Clapham Common Old Town, Wandsworth Road/Silverthorne Road, Battersea Park Station, Sloane Square, Hyde Park Corner Stn, Dorchester Hotel, Brook Street and Oxford Circus, Holles Street. There is one slight issue with this route - between Clapham Common Old Town & Silverthorne Road is North Street which can't take vehicles over 7.5 tonnes so double deckers certainly couldn't use that stretch. I like the limited stop idea though I'd have it follow the 109 & 159 to Oxford Circus myself . I was about to say - there were some quite strongly worded notices on the walls at QB warning drivers not to use North Street as a shortcut between the garage and Clapham Common. There are "buses banned" signposts at both ends of the road

Quite a few of these routes include significant duplication or near parallelling of existing railway / London Overground / tram lines, whereby intermediate stops already have bus links to the nearest station. Something which TfL quite understandably don't seem to go for - I thought the idea of introducing bus routes was to create new, necessary links. Also, over the last couple of decades, TfL has gotten rid of express routes where new rail based transport has been introduced and only left the ones which provide crucial links without following railway lines, like the 607 and X26. I don't think they will be keen to reintroduce such routes, or introduce new, very long routes after years of willfully chopping them up

Me personally, I'd just withdraw the 415 completely and extend the 432 at both ends - Brixton to Elephant & Castle via the 415 & Anerley to Elmers End via Birkbeck. That would then allow the 417 to park it's behind at Anerley and relieve pressure off Crystal Palace Bus Station (the 417 would be extended also from Clapham Common to Clapham Junction via the 35, 37 routeing to ease capacity issues on that section).

New route 447 from Clapham Junction to Thornton Heath Clocktower via:
* 319 to Trinity Road/Wandsworth Common * ahead into Burntwood Lane * left into Garrate Lane * via 270 through Tooting Broadway and Tooting BR to Figgs Marsh, Mitcham * via 152 (Locks Lane) to Mitcham Eastfields Station * via 463 routing to Rowan Road * via 60 to Thornton Heath Pond * via 198/250 to the old 159 terminus by the clocktower
This would give direct bus links between Mitcham and Clapham Junction as well as Pollards Hill and Tooting. It would also create another direct bus link between the boroughs of Croydon and Wandsworth as well as taking a bit of pressure off parts of some routes like the 60, 77 and 152.
Frequency 12-15 minute in the day, 20 minutes from the evenings.
LWB single deckers or double deckers

There have been some very interesting ideas so thanks for those. I've been a little bit surprised at the lack of ideas (apart from Ian F's recent post) for more cross river services in the east. The other slight surprise is the relative lack of ideas for centres like Harrow, Richmond, Croydon and Ealing. I know there are good networks in these places but I'd have thought there'd be space for some new routes.
As people have slightly ignored the "rules" by proposing extensions to existing routes I'll tweak the rules to allow extensions or changes to existing services so more ideas please.
My proposal here is to extend the R68 on from Kew Retail Park along the South Circ to Kew Bridge, Brentford, Northfields to Ealing Hospital. This gives some new links and avoids people having to change buses to get between Richmond and Brentford town centre.
I'd also send the 452 on from Wandsworth Rd station to Brixton via Lansdowne Rd, Stockwell, Brixton. Although it parallels the 196 it would give new cross river links to Stockwell and Brixton from Battersea, Kensington & Notting Hill Gate. I was half tempted to send it on via the P4 / 68 to Herne Hill Stn to give a cross Brixton / new local links but that might make things a bit complex.
