At this moment in time right now one of the most useless routes in London is the 209. I need to agree with you, the 209 can be easily Be temporarily withdrawn with a few little changes, I would reroute 378 from Barnes Pond use 209 route to Castelnau and terminate at Castelnau instead of Mortlake, this would bring a lifeline to people getting across the river instead of just waiting for the 533... Furthermore use resources from the 209 to increase frequency of 533 and reroute 419 as follows... From Barnes Bridge Station (towards Roehampton) continue to Barnes Pond left into Nassau Road then right into Lonsdale Road and line of route, reason being don’t lose Barnes Pond stop from Mortlake if you reroute 378...

The only issue by doing that is you then lose the link from Avondale Road - you could as an example instead withdraw the 378, start the 209 from Putney Bridge, run over the 378 into Avondale Road and then double back to Barnes serving the pond and Red Lion before running up Castelnau and terminating at the bridge.

Lots of different ideas but one thing I think all people can agree on is that the 209 can't carry on in it's current form.

Yes was thinking about the link with Avondale Road I would just terminate the 485 here instead of going to Castelnau in my opinion another useless route because it runs every 30 minutes, duplicates the 378 to Putney and 220/270 to Wandsworth in my experience it just picks up the odd person here and there.... I used to live in Barnes all my life before I moved out of the country

Route 357 - It's just a duplicate of the 97 between Leyton, Bakers Arms & Chingford Mount (I.E. much of the route) and getting to Chingford Hatch would be better via Route W16 which shortcuts via Shernall Street and Highams Park. You also have the 212 from Walthamstow Central that gets there quicker. They could extend the W15 To chingford Mount, that would eradicate the need for the 357, or even the W11 to the hatch and extend the W11 from central to wood street

The 265 is a worthy candidate for a Wandsworth extension. Could go a bit further if feeling really confident and extend to Battersea Power Station or Clapham Junction, giving some great links for the University side of Roehampton and Barnes / Putney Common areas. The 485 does seem rather pointless at present.

I think Battersea would be a bit much though and may make the 265 too long. The other option which has been widely talked about is a 378/485 merger, an idea I support. Diverting the 485 via Putney High Street seemed a good idea to me which would have created handy links from Barnes to Putney station as well as useful round the corner links. I don't see that change happening soon though.

You have the 215, and 97 that is more than ample. Plus the 34 runs down to the crooked billet., anywhere between whipps cross and central the W15 could pick up ... yes it may be a few minutes more... but the 357 always has been pointless. The W15, has a good frequency, I assure you I used to hate hearing it stop outside my house every 10/15 minutes at night so, rented my house out in Walthamstow and purchased a new one.

Every time I see the W15 its rammed so don't think it could cope with more passengers. Its funny the 357 comes up every so often as a route thats not needed. Our friend Snoogle used to point out the route is well used during the peaks.

The 357 and the 414 have been quite hated on this forum for a while You mean they feature regularly in threads like this? I wonder why? l Because too many folks love coming out with random ideas to withdraw routes despite having no usage data or informed opinion.

How many people are going to have usage data to hand and who is to say what is or isn't an informed opinion?
