I feel there are a lot of interesting things being discussed here recently regarding a lot of routes. Some of which running to standard and loads of debates on how to improve some routes. I deliberately titled the thread this way so then we could try to prevent heated debates when people disagree with something they feel isn't exactly so.
You can feel free to suggest routes that you feel could be improved capacity or frequency wise
To start this off, I think that the D6 should be converted to double deck. It's a heavily used route particularly in the peaks, during the off-peaks you can see a certain number of people using it too. I don't think the current E200 Darts would be sustainable for the route and I think extra capacity should be provided for such an important link from Hackney to the Docklands.

I like this topic. IMO there's a lot of Routes around with Poor PVRs which could be better.

I feel the 69 needs more buses it really does get hammered towards Stratford from Canning Town and then again from Leyton towards Walthamstow. It also pretty much always leaves Walthamstow full towards Canning Town.
I like the D6 idea TBH I think they could get away with swapping the D7 buses with D6 I have never really seen a D7 that full!

The 69 already has assistance courtesy of the 97 between Leyton and Walthamstow, both routes help to relieve loadings off each other. Its not all the time you get a full 69 leaving Walthamstow Bus Station .

The C1 is always heavily loaded. The DEs are always over-full most times of the day. It's quite a useful local link but is very well-used.
Victoria - Sloane Square - Knightbridge - South Kensington - Earl's Court - Kensington High Street - Olympia - Shepherds Bush - White City.
The route could definetly do with DDs or more buses

A small one - the 123 to run every 12 mins during Sunday daytimes. The route loads heavily on Sundays and needs a slight improvement to give some more capacity. I counted 45 people boarding over 3 stops in Ilford on a journey last Sunday. We then carried on picking up people at almost every stop to South Woodford. I've even seen full Sunday buses at 0600 on a Sunday!
The 66 needs a frequency boost on Sunday daytimes. It can be horrendously overloaded with shoppers and it provides the sole service on several sections of route.

The P4 - not frequent enough to cope at all in the peaks, leaving people behind from Lewisham until about Honor Oak Park/Forest Hill. Apparently problems with trees in North Dulwich so it can't be deckered as of yet, but a frequency increase in the peaks would certainly be good. At least one double decker has appeared on the P4. I agree both that and the C1 need double deckers.

I do wonder why posts are always challenged here I am a regular user of the 69 and just reporting what I see. Also yes the 69 has assistance from the 97 but lets face it how often are timetables designed with even gaps. A example below of 69 departures from Walthamstow 1018 1026 1034 1042 1050 1058 1106 and 97 1016 1024 1032 1040 1048 1056 1104 Hardly spread even to provide a more even service toward Leyton / Stratford

R70, for a route serving at least five schools (I can't think of a route that serves more) is very underbussed during the peak (off peaks are fine with the E200s)
235 needs double decks urgently, and the 371 should be fully double decked.
33 should have 11m Versas (largest buses possible on the route)
I believe C1 is double deck suitable.
Long list of routes in SW London could be put here.

One thing I notice is how drivers carry on letting passengers board buses when over limit of passenger numbers.
I have seen this a lot on route 15 in Tower Hill area.

The 29 even with it's current PVR is a joke, it needs the PVR of the 38
The 368 needs DD's, if the 498 got them and is getting a frequency so can the 368 which is the busier route IMO
The 66 as mentioned for reasons above
The D3 on a sunday always seems to be very busy with people packed up the front door's (Sure that is illegal)

The frequency of the 481 is an absolute joke. For much, of the route it's the only bus available, and it's hourly with no Sunday service.
As a minimum it should run every 20 minutes, 30 minutes on Sundays. The 465 when it served Fulwell ran on Sundays too.

Route 300 needs improving buses are always rammed full - was better when it had a PVR increase during the crossrail works.

I think it's nowdays about meeting headway and not the exact times for buses to leave a particular stop in high frequeny cases. I believe the 97 is now the busier of the pairing since it got extended to Stratford City. The 69 got an additional peak bus taken off the service due to the frequency increase on the 97. Prior to the extension formally you would have everyone cram onto the 69 as it was the only direct link from Walthamstow to Stratford - As you stated it can still often be the case but usually you'll have passengers get on what comes first.
