I'd extend the N2 to Sutton via the 157 to Croydon & 154 to Sutton. This restores both a night link through Norwood Junction but also a link between Croydon & Sutton - if not the N2, reintroduce the N176 running over the 176, then from Penge via the 75 & 154.
Another extension could be to extend the N137 to Elmers End via Anerley & Birkbeck.

Am I missing something? The N159 only ran every half hour beyond Streatham, even at weekends, while he N109 runs every 20 minutes daily. On the N19, I agree an extension would be better for everyone as it would also give south London better links to the west end beyond Sloane Square. Even if I got that wrong, the N159 still run much better than the N109. People from New Addington & Shirley have to change between Croydon & Thornton Heath - hardly desirable and then when they do change, the N109 is a painfully slow ride. The N109 is also empty compared to the N159 which was full. I much perfer the N109. It runs slow sometimes but it serves most of the stops anyway. Whenever I did the N3 they use to wait till I left oxford circus first but I always leave a few minutes late anyway. They be running behind me all th eway to trafalgar sq and I would normally see them again in kennington road flying past me towards brixton ;D One day coming back from working at battersea garage, I was at streatham hill waiting for the N109 and I couldn't get on it as it was too busy. This was around 5am on a sunday morning! There been a few times when I got on it and theres no seats available. I personally think the N109 frequency should be increased. I realised sometime late last year that they increased it during friday and saturday nights to every 15 minutes but only between 3-4am. As for the N159 th route was too busy and there were times when I couldn't get on it. Most of the time, it was only going to streatham. You also wiould see many passenges at streatham garage waiting for the N159 as they didn't realise that the N159 had scheduled workings. The drivers must have suffered with driving from marble arch all the way to new addington. It didn't go direct to new addington as it went via the 130 route.

Do we not already have a fairly "rough and ready" list with the buses that run all night on NYE? Some of them could be discounted because they run on NYE as supplements to the existing night bus service (e.g. 97 and 73). The list from the last booklet in 2011 was 5, 51, 66, 73, 92, 96, 97, 103, 109, 113, 114, 116, 120, 121, 123, 133, 145, 154, 157, 161, 163, 164, 169, 174, 178, 183, 207, 208, 209, 210, 217, 221, 222, 229, 248, 252, 261, 262, 269, 275, 314, 319, 340, 358, 412, 422, 432, 436, 444, C10, E1, E7, H12, H37, U3, U4, W3, W7. TfL did have plans for 24 hour services on the 141 and W3 but they came to nought. Rumour I heard was that Arriva's costs were too high and then we got the budget squeeze. From the above list I'd take out the 109, 113 (N113 now runs), 133, 169, 207. I understand the comments about a night 123. It would need careful scheduling given the intensity of the N73 service between Tottenham and Bell Corner. However I do think it would provide a really good orbital night link - it fills in a big gap. If you can justify the 83 running 24 hours why not the 123? Would need a PVR of 4 buses on a x30 headway. I would also run night 34 on the same basis - fills a big orbital gap and links to several tube stations (I know there are no trains at night but they are still places people travel to) and many radial night services. There is only a 3.5 hours gap between last and first buses so only 7 or 8 extra departures on a x30 headway. On short turnrounds it would need 3 buses, on a more robust schedule 4. I also think a night W15 would also be popular - again a x30 headway, PVR would be 4. The 157 was quite busy during new years eve. Doing the last 157 is very quiet. I noticed if I leave crystal palace late then I would pick up the passengers coming off the 3 or 363 and boarding my bus to go along anerley road and even towards norwood junction. Im surprised the 412 was in there. Everytime I see that route in selsdon or even in croydon I still fail to see why this route has double decks and others don't. I know that there lots of schools on the route.

274 should be 24 hour again, it was very well used and is missed now. I will never understand why it got scrapped. I thought the night 274 was withdrawn because few people used it but you suggest otherwise. At very least the N74 should be extended to Camden Town giving that section a night service.

I would like the 182 to convereted to a 24 hour route to provide Tanfield Road and Crest Road with a night service.
Then withdraw the N18 between Harrow Weald and Sudbury and reroute it via the 92 to Ealing Hospital to provide Sudbury Hill with a night service.

There is no way the (N)274 was underused, if you got a empty one even on a weekday you'd be lucky let alone a friday/saturday night. Even the section between Camden Town and Angel was very busy especially on friday/saturday night now people have to either use 29/253 to Holloway then N41/43 to Angel or 214 to Kings Cross and then 205/N73 to Angel

Something going South Norwood way, please!!! I'd suggest the 197, as there's a large section between Croydon and Penge without any night service.

In my opinion an 'N' route in the Norwood Junction area would be far better patronized if it originated in, or near central London, say an extended 'N'176 or N2, or even N63. Although the N75 connected two hubs in Lewisham and Croydon, it made connections from central London rather long-winded.

There should be a N237 route, 237 extended to Feltham at least, and if funded to Staines via 117. Possible extensions could be to Cricklewood (via 316) or Clapham Junction (via 49).
Another route which should be 24 hour in my opinion is the 120, adding night a night bus between Hounslow and Southall
If this was before 2010, I'd also add 267 to the list, but now the 33 is 24 hour, but I think an extension to Hampton Court would be useful.

I'd be quite surprised if we saw another cross-border night service. The only one I can think of is the N279 and that really is quite an anomaly.

In the East-End, I think more needs to be done in the Upton Park & East Ham area.
I feel the 58 should be 24 houred again, it was a really crucial link getting from Walthamstow to Forest Gate/Upton Park & East Ham during the night whilst Stagecoach operated it.
