As this year's Carnival is fast approaching I was wondering if anyone had any more info or the timetables for the additional Express Notting Hill Carnival Buses e.g 2X, 36X, 205X, 436X.

There are notices up in NX asking for volunteers for doing the late turns, I think they put up the duties for the 36X about a week before hand. I won't be volunteering as that weekend its my 4 day weekend and I'm gonna try and get the Monday off to have a nice 5 day break.

I would imagine a late turn on Carnival weekend would be good fun

I would have thought that a sponsor could be found for free travel on TfL services between 21:00 and 01:00 on both carnival nights. It would have the advantage of getting the streets cleared quicker. LUL gates set open, Oyster readers turned off. Easiest way IMHO

I doubt you will get any timetables out of TfL. There is very limited info on the TfL website at the moment about bus services. There is only a map - TfL info - which shows a basic level of info. It looks to me that the basic service pattern is similar to last year with the exception of showing the night 52 (rather than N52 which was withdrawn a while back) separately. From memory, service levels vary considerably by day and day of time for carnival routes. One difference this year will be the absence of First London and the inability to flex resources in quite the same way as before. Obviously Metroline can still pull in resources from Alperton to bolster the 18. Quite what Tower Transit will do to bolster its routes remains to be seen!

I have put a FOI request in, I doubt I will get a response prior to this years Carnival. I would imagine that some of the buses which form these express services will be adsorbed into the normal routes at quiet times.

Why not just wait until they are released instead of hassling TFL?

The reason being as already stated in this thread, the TFL website has very limited and often incorrect information under the timetable section. So I have asked for the data personally

Why not just wait until they are released instead of hassling TFL? It's clear to me that TfL are not going to provide any detailed bus information other than the map that is on the TfL website already. This is in line with their minimalist approach to bus information. There is some info on the "live bus info" pages but that is not a timetable nor an indication of service level or anything about the express extras. The info wasn't complete last time I looked as nothing was shown for route 28 and yet that is affected by the Carnival changes. While I would not do a FOI request myself there is a gap in explaining to the public what will happen. This is doubly critical now that London Overground staff have announced a 48 hour strike for that weekend so people will be more reliant on the bus network. An FOI request is very unlikely to be answered prior to the Carnival taking place so it's not a practical mechanism in this instance if all that is wanted is an idea about service frequencies and routes.

You put in a Freedom of Information request for what buses are running. I d*mned well wish I was as cool as you.

You put in a Freedom of Information request for what buses are running. I d*mned well wish I was as cool as you. Please go back and read the thread of posts. I did NOT make a FOI request - someone else said they had. I simply remarked it was very unlikely to be of any use in this instance given the proximity of Carnival and the typical timescales for TfL to turn round FOI requests. Oh and is it really necessary for nearly all of your posts on this forum to be dripping in acid laced sarcasm? I'd like an apology please as my post did not warrant your response.

Snoggle - why so defensive if it wasn't you that had put it in?
I had quoted your post in response to it, as you had clearly agreed with it.
And if you don't like my posts - or anyone else - there's a lovely big PM button next to my name. Use it.
No need to get so upset.

I've gone back and re-read the series of posts. I suggest you do the same. You are claiming that I did something that I did not do. And then you wonder why I am "upset"? You are making me out to be a liar which really gets my goat. I don't tell lies on this group or anywhere else. I won't use the PM facility for something that is as serious as this. You are effectively impugning my character and I therefore want it to be clear to *everyone* what my position is. Now do I get an apology given you've now repeated the same erroneous point?
