Personally, I don't see why the design cannot be 'tweaked' to any layout required - 3 door/2 door/single door etc or even a single deck version made. It is supposed to be 'the' London bus so why not push that to the limit? Can't see it happening though....ahh a NB4L family... Just what I thought, the bus is great now the air con problems seem to be resolved so why not a shorter one staircase two door OPO version for suburban routes?

Once the 600 are delivered, I seriously hope no more are ordered.

I would say that if (as was mentioned earlier in the thread) TfL are looking at other builders, that would indicate Wrights could be building over the minimum amount of 1000 to allow TfL to exercise their right to 'shop around' with other builders. So an extra 400 for you VJ! They will definitely penetrate your South London delights!

Time to start using the Underground far more into Central London then, though a new mayor could easily halt the 2nd wave.

I can foresee a 2 door version for suburbs without the back door and staircase. I'm surprised the middle door hasn't been dropped and ramp and wheelchair moved to front like provincial buses, would also make it much easier to collect fares and avoid free bus. Not convinced a single deck version would be made but it is telling that many European cities include a rear exit door on their single decks so 3 door single decks without door attendants work well.

A 2 door conventional diesel version would be perfect It's all the Hybrid tech that sends the prices thru the roof IMHO +1 Vjaska, it's time to take the Tube into town... these buses, already too long, have already started to block junctions like their predecessor the Bendies... and don't get me started on the fare evasion aspect Still trying to figure out where the 580+ or so more of these things will go... unless Boris just uttered 600 as one of his magical words in his typical rambling speeches....

Here is the photo of it being towed away... www.flickr.com/photos/mikepaws/9941045043/Snapped by Michael Garnett it looks repairable. May as well cut the damaged part away and rebuild it. And why do they tape the operators logo for?

And why do they tape the operators logo for? Again, I think you're exhibiting your over exaggerative behaviour. The bus is material they can easily be replaced, life is short and precious. Both LT35 & LT62, are off road understand both buses are repairable and be repaired to the highest standard by Wrightbus; If LT62 cause of accident was as a result of throttle failure then that's mechanical failure and may not of been detected, in Pre service checks. Remember the cause of accident for LT35 AFAIK, has not been publicly revealed. I don't really care for this vanity project but praying those involved in the weekends crash make a full recovery. The operators logo is tapped, to prevent individuals claiming they where involved in the accident and making fraudulent personal injuries claims, I'm also under the presumption that LT62 was towed to a foreign London bus operator garage to prevent, Colleagues tampering with potential evidence.

I think in particular it will hinge on the manifesto of the next Conversative mayoral candidate - whoever that may be.

Why wouldn't a single deck version work? It would just be two door like any other single decker so you wouldn't need a "door attendant"!

Agree, re. the Daily Mail. WRONG ROUTE indeed : how do they expect the buses to return to Stockwell? Fly? But the bus was in service at the time and was on the wrong route, for reasons that will probably be established at a later date. Best not to jump to conclusions eh? Yes: Wrong route No: It was NOT in service, as it was doing a dead run back to Stockwell Garage, I think

I don't see the connection? RM1368 is a single deck Routemaster. I imagine Mr Tuthill is suggesting it as a template for NB4L conversions.
