Reported by Leon Daniels on a Yahoo group was that the first boring bus departure on route 9 was the 1408 from Aldwych. LVF would sugest this was LT90.

Well, I bet there's gonna be a lot, like there usually is, as always (experience of being on the firsts of many NBfL routes)!

I won't be, not sure why people need to attend every NBfL conversion as the same thing happens every time - decent buses are removed to make way for NBfL's that no different from the ones that come before bar what route it runs and the operator who runs it.

This article has convinced me that NBFL is not only a waste of money (virtually double the cost of a "normal" bus) but was falsely promoted by Mayor Johnson as the New Routemaster (not as the part time Routemaster it seems to be turning into) I certainly agree with you. This NB4L project was just made to make Londoners and tourists happy and that's not what we need. We need more suitable roads, housing and jobs for people to live their lives well, not some poxy Hybrid-Routemasters that has received negative reviews from the day it was introduced. Just a waste of taxpayer's money IMO. You need to run for Mayor I don't know where on earth all this money has come from either... They are again going to have to employ hordes of Revenue staff like in the days of the Bendy, it would be better if the 'conductor' wasn't just a Health&Safety measure, smh... They are too long for London's tight corners, not surprised another one got bashed this week after clipping a bollard... And these buses ain't cheap... we could have got more conventional buses like MBK1 instead, at least that has the smart LED blinds I realised what a silly question I asked about where the money is coming from? Of course, us, probably next January when they hike the fares yet again... and we complain about how utility firms shaft us?

Of course, us, probably next January when they hike the fares yet again... and we complain about how utility firms shaft us? I am going to horribly blunt but we get what we vote for. There was a distinct difference in policies about transport and fares at the last Mayoral election. People voted Conservative overall. As Boris has repeatedly told his political opponents on the Assembly, when they complain about fares, the voters had a choice of fare increases or a fare cut. They voted for fares increases or in his words "bearing down on fares" (which really means putting fares up by more than inflation). Now after 4 more years of fares rises people might vote for something else but by then the Z1 tube fare will be nearly £2.50 and the bus fare around £1.60. Boris believes he has been given carte blanche to increase fares, subject to central government edict, by London's electorate and that is exactly what he is going to do. TfL's budget is predicated on fares increases and the previous assumption was RPI+2% but the Chancellor constrained that to RPI+1% which I suspect TfL is not terribly happy about when also faced with taking on more debt and reducing government grants. As for the NB4L then it is a political construct - it was dreamt up by Policy Exchange as a stick to bash Ken Livingstone over the head with at the 2008 Mayoral Election. I am not suggesting it was decisive, there were more important issues, but it was a factor in the campaign. You can argue that people were utterly conned and now we are landed with a multi million pound cost for years and years that could have improved services, bought normal hybrids, cut fares or some combination of these possibilities. Just goes to show how the "art of politics" works and all parties are guilty of these tactics (before I'm attacked for being partisan).

It was Livingstone that pledged to keep Routematers but did the exact opposite once in office. Yes we do get what we vote for, a mayor that has kept his promise to build a new 'routemater'. Where are all those so called experts now who said such a thing was impossibe?

Yawn - how's life Mr Manning? Pardon??? Somebody dares to disagree with yet another one of your irrational rants and all you can do is make silly comments.............yawn! An irrational rant eh? Nothing irrational about pointing to *facts* including source documents and the actual results of elections and what the Mayor is on record as saying - there are webcasts of him citing his election win as justifying fares increases. I have zero expectation of everyone agreeing with me but it is only fair that people are pointed to what lobbyists got up to on the Routemaster / NB4L issue. I am not telling people what to think - that's their job *provided* they are in receipt of a wide range of information. Blind faith in a policy or propaganda gets you nowhere and just leaves people floundering when asked to explain why they believe or think what they do. You can keep denying your real posting identity but your written style is unmistakeable as are the views you express. And yes the same can be said about me.

It has been said (and I believe) that a writing style can be as obvious and distinctive as your fingerprints... But I digress, and back on topic : it looks like the 9 today is 100% LT (aside of course from the heritage Routemasters). Who's going to be first to get a photograph of an LT and an RM on the 9 together?
