Route 9 is now fully NBFL, accompanied with Heritage RM's! mongo.londonvf.co.uk/#9 Not a single VE, VLE & SP in sight. Nearly everyone has stated that

It was Livingstone that pledged to keep Routematers but did the exact opposite once in office. Yes we do get what we vote for, a mayor that has kept his promise to build a new 'routemater'. Where are all those so called experts now who said such a thing was impossibe? And this new Routemaster has more than cons than pros and has swallowed up a budget that could of easily been spent much wisely elsewhere.

That's your opinion to which you are of course perfectly entitled...............others think differently

That's your opinion to which you are of course perfectly entitled...............others think differently I wasnt going to post here, but seeing as the post has again turned to LT bashing, I just want to exercise my opinion. I happen to think that the pro's far outweigh the cons. I will admit that the 11 service in the first couple of weeks (I havent sampled it again since, yet) was a bit shambolic, but the vehicles themselves I love. In my opinion, they are far smoother, free of annoying rattles, garish interiors, far more comfortable and on top of that, they look great inside and out. These vehicles have re-ignited my enthusiasm in London Buses, which had waned since the Routemasters retired. My experience on route 9 yesterday was fantastic, so much better than my experiences on the 24 and the 11. Pretty much the only thing which I do not agree with on these vehicles is the operation of them (3 doors opo is just a recipe for fare evasion in my opinion.) However, despite this, I am fully expectant that future conversions will be OPO once the political storm which surrounds these vehicles in the first instance dies down. Anyway, I would like to congratulate London United on such a sucessful roll out (goes to show that a conversion all at once can be successful. The drivers were all extremely friendly, talked to many and especially one of the controllers.) All in all, despite the weather, I had a great day. I hope that after Mr. Johnson has gone, that these buses are kept as long as they are expected. Early removal would just mean more wasted money. As much as I hated the bendies, I dont think that they should necessarily have departed so quickly, and I believe that they should have been retained on just 507/521. To my mind, it is a shame that politics plays such a big part in TfL (though I guess it always has.) Anyway, I think that this bus is great and I am proud to be a Londoner and have something that once again is unique and better than anything else. This is not an antagonistic post, I am simply providing my opinions, I am fully aware that there are many of you out there that see this as a vanity project and a waste of money. I just simply disagree.

The first bus was basically being followed by the second bus. But the fact was the first was being followed by the second. Yes it was late, but at least it didn't mean that the whole service was 10min late! (I was on the first journey on LT80, LT72 being the follower), so LT80 was on time later on anyway, so the service was good on the first day, as I have seen.
I believe that the LTs are to show that London should have "it's own" bus, like the RM was "our own" bus for us Londoners (well, those who are Londoners).

I've noticed the LTs on the 9 don't appear to have the old-style running numbers. They are the usual black on yellow or LUT's yellow on black running cards. I thought the white on black running cards were specified by TfL? The 11's allocation of LTs also seems to have stabilised now..no WVLs on it today at all, and not for a while
