Was on the 250 the other night and noticed that the 1950's lampposts along Green Lane, Norbury now have their replacement energy saver lampposts next to them. Old ones are still presently working for the moment.
I've always loved these version lamps as they are rather unique in London in that the majority switch on/off at the same time. Fortunately, the borough of Croydon still have quite a few of them left, as I had noticed along Brighton Road South Croydon towards Purley.
On the flip side of the coin, I was on the 3 not long ago along South Croxted Road where the old lampposts were replaced over a year ago. However, time has forgotten one old lamppost which still works. It has a replacement post next to it that is still off.

Hounslow have started to really push ahead with replacing their lampposts and installing LED lighting which can be controlled remotely. They have a habit of forgetting the odd lamppost here and there, one opposite Hounslow Station remained for a month before they recently came and installed the new one, with both working at the same time! And once new lights have gone in you'll find they're on 24hrs until they are connected to the remote system, which is to enable lights to be dimmed or switched off on demand. Although they seem to be in no hurry to replace any lampposts knocked down by vehicles or to fix a failed light that I reported many months ago... plus a few of these roads gaining new columns had theirs replaced only a few years ago There is also one long forgotten old style yellow light on the path in Merrick Road Southall, that road had their lights replaced in 2008.

The borough of Merton still have quite a few of the old lamppost from the 50s and 60s. Some of the side streets off Merton High Street still have the concrete ones, though strangely those versions are actually newer as they were erected in stages between 1974 and 1984. High Path SW19 had new posts erected around 1980 yet about four of the old swan shaped metallic posts are still standing next to their replacements today. Apparently there was some sort of a petition to have them remain, despite being switched off once the new ones were in full operation.

Lambeth still has a few concrete posts standing - the alleyway from the end of Rush Common to Roupell Park has one survivor left - the others were replaced many years ago but this one has been left. It has a swan neck too. The road behind Kennington Police Station at Lambeth North has a full set of concrete columns despite every other road in the area having columns dating post 2000. Bessemer Road at Kings College Hospital has 4 concrete columns and Cutcombe Road has one - all these are within hospital grounds which was extended a while back and I guess are no longer Lambeth's problem. The rest of Cutcombe Road had theirs replaced as did nearby Venetian Road, Bavant Road & Caldecot Road. The Stockwell Park Estate also has some concrete columns remaining too.

There is also a swan neck concrete lamppost just off Valley Road along a path leading into a small estate, not far from the junction of Streatham Common North side. Very similar designed lampposts exist within the borough of Sutton, on some side roads in Hackbridge, Carshalton and Wallington. There was also a concrete lamppost along the main road by Worchester Park Station, unplugged with the lamp casing damage. It was still there up to about two or three years ago, could still be there now. The Borough of Wandsworth however have more or less eradicated all their concrete posts. In fact, I think they were one of the first boroughs to start the program as lamp posts along high streets were being replaced in the Tooting, Balham, Battersea, Putney and Roehampton areas from the late 1980s. Wandsworth and Putney high-street's lamp posts were a bit unique in that although the actual lamps were the same as Tooting's, they were on metallic poles instead of concrete ones.

Where I live, the streetlights are switched off between 12-5am. I remember hearing about some towns with those lighting restrictions. I also remember an LBC discussion about a proposal or consultation on having 50% of some of London's lamppost switched off to conserve energy, especially on where roads are well lit. The plan was to turn off every other lamp.

I only just noticed last night that some of the the lampposts on the A24 between colliers wood and tooting Broadway stations have been/are being replaced by the energy saver versions, similar to what Lambeth have on Coldharbour lane but with longer necks. The weird thing is that the street lights being replaced are from high-street tooting (junction of Sittincourt Road) into high-street colliers wood (junction of Marborough Road), which means that section of the A24 will have the same lamppost designs for the first time since trolleybuses.
The ones being replaced have similar designs except merton's were from the mid 70s whereas Wandsworth's were from the late 80s/early 90s.
The 1950/60's concrete ones before them were also different designs between the two boroughs, tooting high street ones being the same as Balham, Clapham, Streatham and parts of Putney and Roehampton. The High-street colliers wood ones were the same as Mitcham.

I saw an article on Hounslow's lighting in someone's Daily Mail newspaper... about it being too bright and disturbing everyone's sleep I have a slight interest in street lights, funnily enough... heck, I even have a favourite street light (MA60). Hertfordshire's lighting is nice and varied with loads of concrete columns, but I wasn't a fan of Hertfordshire switching the lights off after 12AM when I was living in Potters Bar... kind of scary walking home in darkness As for Barnet... don't get me started. It's slowly but surely replacing every one of its lights with my least favourite kind! And Barnet's lighting used to be interesting!

I noticed one road in the borough of Lewisham that somehow has held onto its concrete columns by and large - Drakefell Road has a sizeable number of concrete columns though some of the original lights have been replaced. There are a few roads in Lambeth that have survived the 'concrete column replacement program' of the 00's - Bessemer Road & Cutcombe Road (outside Kings College Hospital), Mead Row (behind Lambeth North Police Station), Temple Mill Lane (near Clapham High Street Station), Curtis Field Road, South Oak Road, Samuel Johnson Close, James Boswell Close & Well Close (off Valley Road), Challice Way & Vibart Gardens (off Upper Tulse Hill), the very top of Abbots Park (off Tulse Hill), Marcus Garvey Way & Bob Marley Way (off Railton Road). I also spotted a rare column on an estate in Lambeth off Cromwell Road which comes off Patmore Road.

Miller Road SW19 off Merton high Street still have the original column and lamps from the early 70s, same with nearby Abbey Street SW19, barring one or two which have been replaced or refurbished for individual reasons, i.e. damage.

I like the MA60 light as well - we use to have some along Acre Lane, Morval Road, Streatham Hill & Streatham High Road as well at the beginning of some roads with concrete columns.

I'm not sure what the MA60s are but as you mention Streatham Hill/High Road are they the contrete ones that used to be along the A24 from junction of Union Road, Clapham all the way to the junction of Blackshaw Road, Tooting?

I've just googled it. Some are still on parts of high street Colliers Wood, Christchurch road and Western road but don't have the original 'red into Amber' lamps...which were replaced in stages between 2001 and 2006. Identical M60s are still on Croydon Road where the 75, 157 and 197 travel along. These ones still have the 'red into Amber' lamps. I believe Bromley council have plenty left in abundance in their original appearance.

Streatham Hill & High Road had a mixture of concrete columns and metal columns - the metal columns had MA60's. I think there are just 2 MA60's left in Lambeth - both outside Kings College Hospital on Bessemer Road.
