Thanks for the input, I really like the sound of these new E40Hs. They have a nice deep tone Same, much prefer them to the Euro V ones and they also seem faster too.

Surprising about the speed, as they may have a extra 25bhp comapared to euro 5 but they are also on average 305kgs heavier than majority of the latest euro 5 batches which are around 11900kgs. I don't find euro 5 examples the ones on the 27(12190kgs) as fast as say the ones on say the 88 or even the 13reg metroline ones which are around the 11900kgs iirc. I think that is down to the extra weight

Sorry if I've missed this question already but does the new E400 cost more than the old one?
And, as with the old Plaxton single deckers, will the old model be offered as cheaper alternative for a while?

The Scania is still going to have the old style body until at least next year, but as far as I know, the B5LH and E40D will all be the MMC

I remember reading the quote of two batches of Metroline VWs. The non-WTA models were £220K while the WTA models were £250K but of course buying in bulk has an impact on the price of a vehicle or service for that matter. The two Quality Line E400s that the company acquired back in 2011 cost £236K each while any Metroline TE from the batch 976-992 cost about £195K. Might be worth noting that the new Scania N250UD will use the Cummins Engine Unit.

I find that one strange that scania will be using a cummins engine for their euro 6 buses, yet on their website they have their own euro 6 enngines for buses & coaches. Euro 6 uk bus engines are: Biogas & CNG, 9ltr 280bhp, 995lb ft Biodiesel, 9ltr 320bhp, 1180lb ft or 360bhp, 1253lb ft Diesel, 7ltr 280bhp, 811lb ft or 9ltr 250bhp, 1032lb ft (thats alot of torque compared to the hp normally this sort of torque is with engines with over 300bhp)and finally 9ltr 320bhp, 1180lb ft]
Now we have the cummins 6.7ltr 280bhp according to sources on north east bus forum, torque figures not yet available

Obviously there are price factors to consider as I don't know the costs between manufacturers.

If they can get a 280hp lower capacity unit instead of the existing 9 litre, I can see why they have gone for the ubiquitous Cummins

This looks like the one that was photographed at ADLs factory a while back, which apparently is a demo.

I was looking at your pics earlier Dave they are great. Did you try legroom on the upper deck?
Also that seat on the lower deck behind nearside front wheel arch looks cramped unless its just the angle of the camera.
