Fantasy Newham changes 238 - extended from Stratford to Mile End. I think that this route has a potential for a western extension. Currently from Bow there isn't a link towards Upton Park, and it would also provide Plashlet Road a link beyond Stratford 474 - reverted back to its old routing through Silvertown. I think that the previous routing was better than the current, as Silvertown (parts of it) would regain its link to London City Airport and Beckton 330 - withdrawn between Canning Town and Pontoon Dock. Would be rerouted to Crossharbour Asda via the 115 to Poplar then the D8 to Crossharbour. I think that a link from Canary Wharf/IoD to Canning Town and Barking Road would be well used. The 330 would still serve the station in my proposal D8 - withdrawn between Crossharbour and Westferry Circus due to stand space. 30 - would add a double run to Homerton Hospital. Because its strange that Dalston Lane (the bit where its only with the 56) and Wick Road have no link to Homerton Hospital. Would also improve hospital links in the area. 300 - rerouted between Custom House and Canning Town via the 474. Would then be extended to Stratford via Manor Road then the 276. Replaces the 474 and gives West Ham better links to the south of the borough. Would also return the link between Keir Hardie and Stratford (not sure how well used the 241 was end to end). 325 - would become a circular route, starting and ending at Beckton station. Extended from East Beckton to Beckton via the 366. Extended from Prince Regent to Beckton via the old 300 routing. Would bring back links lost when the 300 was rerouted, also provides new links to Gallions Reach shopping park, etc. The 325 number would be withdrawn, replaced by B1 (clockwise) and B2 (anticlockwise). B stands for Beckton 366 - frequency would drop from 6bph to 4bph Mon-Sat and from 4bph to 3bph Sun and evenings. The 325 between Barking and Beckton would duplicate the 366 hence the frequency decrease 376 - would also become a circular route, starting and ending at East Ham Newham Town Hall. The 376 number would be removed, and renumbered B3 (clockwise) and B4 (anticlockwise). The termini could be moved to Beckton if necessary. 304 - would be extended to Wanstead, to replace the 101. 101 - would be withdrawn, due to improvements/new links between East Ham and Beckton. I do feel that the 101 is now rendered mostly useless and a waste of resources considering nits lost its sole link to Gallions Reach from East Ham and you have the 474 on the majority of the route 104 - extended from Beckton to Gallions Reach shopping Park via the 262. To make stand space at Beckton and also to link Lonsdale Avenue to Gallions Reach shopping park. Frequency decrease to 5bph Mon-Sat and 4bph Suns and evenings (overall Beckton to Gallions Reach would lose 2bph in the peaks from the 104 and 2bph from the 366, but gains 5bph from the 325 (albeit via a different route than the 104, so those changes would even out the spread of routes between the two destinations) Can’t help but think these are very repetitive! I’ll bit anyway and reply: The 101 is needed to support the 304 and 474 along the very busy East Ham corridor so you can’t withdraw unless you increase the frequency on the other two routes. What makes you think they would reintroduce a route back to Gallions Reach after withdrawing the 101 back to Beckton station. . The 241 was well used locally from Canning Town to areas like Freemasons Road and New Barn Street it’s now just about the Stratford link. Thankfully this is fantasy and likely will never see the light of day. Sorry to be critical but these ideas on thread like this all just seem like change for changes sake. Edit: the 325 idea is madness and no need to replace the lost 300 section! Is was withdrawn along that section because the 376 was sufficient. On the 238 front there is currently a frequent Hammersmith & City Line service between Bromley-By-Bow/Bow Road and Upton Park, presumably where the proposed 238 would terminate. Having used routes like the 25 and D8 down that section of the A11, not to mention how the 238 can often run into congestion in its current form, I should imagine that the preferred option is for it to stay as is.
The main purpose of the 104 and 238 currently is to operate short, frequent and reliable services through Portway down to Upton Park from Stratford, and in order to cater for the extremely high loadings its best for the service to start at Stratford so they can mop up the loads.

The 104 would not be affected on the Stratford end in my proposals so would still be able to do that. As for the 238 I did initially think about Bow Church however it would barely serve Bow. The aim of extending the 238 was to give parts of Stratford/Upton Park a link to Bow, hence extending it to Mile End to allow it to serve the whole of Bow

My fantasy list of express routes in a world with no dearth of money. Numbers are completely arbitrary

X53: thamesmead - plumstead - woolwich (using the 472 route) - Charlton village - Blackheath royal standard - Deptford bridge - New Cross - old Kent road Tesco - elephant and castle - Lambeth North - Westminster - Victoria - South Kensington
X208: Orpington - PRU - Bromley Common - Bromley south - Bromley north - Southend - Catford - Lewisham - New Cross - Surrey Quays - Canada Water - London Bridge (this one I am struggling with a bit frankly)

Shall we have a bit of fun and fill in the irritating gaps in the TfL 1-100 route number series?
10 : a straight renumber of the C10
48 : the Camberwell end of the 148 (which falls back to Elephant), as far as Hyde Park Corner, combined with an extension to Kensington via the 9.
82 : a straight renumber of the C1 just because I feel like it
84 : a combination of the northern Queen’s Park - Hyde Park Corner part of the 36 (which gets cut to Paddington), then the 414 as far as Sloane Square (414 loses its identity in favour of more 14s)
Not serious, please don’t take it as such 😂

I know there was something similar speculated about the 148 two years ago, merging with the 45 and sending that to Marble Arch Mind you, tfl has proposed a lot of wacky changes which makes your change look fairly moderate

82 : a straight renumber of the C1 just because I feel like it Under that senario could renumber the P12 with it, though 342 suits it better as it runs with the 343 along Peckham Rye Lane.

New night route N62 Marks Gate or Chadwell Heath to Trafalgar Square
Via the day 62 to Lodge Avenue, then non stop to Aldgate station via the A13, except for Canning Town station. Customers between Canning Town and Aldgate can use the N15 to get to and from central London
Reason: to gives Marks Gate and Becontree a night route and Chadwell Heath a route to central London. The express nature allows it to run quickly from outer East London to inner East London

Extend bus route 50 from Stockwell to Vauxhall via route 88. This is to help support the 88 from Clapham Common

I would think a faster link between Orpington and Croydon could quite useful via Addington village, Gravel hill and Coombe Lane although that might replicate the tram link somewhat, however from East Croydon I'd send the route either send it down the 119 route towards Colannades and curtail the 119 to Croydon to improve reliability or alternatively provide another link towards Thornton Hear our Purley

The 353 would never be returned to Croydon via its former route via Coombe Lane as it would be quicker than Tramlink and TfL would never allow that.

Yeah, I think the problem would be tramlink duplication. Personally wouldn't curtail the 466 in Croydon but there's no point having 3 routes via Shirley park, Coombe Lane would make more sense - even as a infrequent route but yes you are right about tfl and tramlink.
