Mercedes dominated qualifying as expected but behind it was very close with Williams and Ferrari battling for 3rd. It looks like Ferrari have massively improved and they are now directly competing with Williams. I have to say, my money's on b Williams, at least for now.

Lewis Hamilton won the Australian Grand Prix ahead of Nico Rosberg. Magnussen and Kvyat failed to start the race due to Magnussen's engine blowing up on the way to the grid and Kvyat's gearbox failed (he lost 5th gear) Both Lotus cars retired, Maldonado crashed out on lap 1 and Grosjean had a power problem, then Verstappen stopped and Raikkonen also retired I do feel sorry for Jenson Button, who was the only one not to finish in the points. Hopefully all 20 cars are racing in Malaysia

Dull, dull, dull
Glad I didn't bother getting up at 5 to watch it
Pleasantly surprised by the performance of the rookies, Felipe Nasr in particular. In fact, chuffed with Sauber's race performance as a whole
I wonder if Alonso's concussion might keep him out of Malaysia as well? And China and Bahrain after that? I know I wouldn't want to drive that dog of a car. Don't know how McLaren and Honda have ballsed up so spectacularly
Fingers crossed Manor get out in Malaysia
And get well soon Valterri Bottas, hope he's well enough for Malaysia
Anyone watch the Miami ePrix? Far more entertainment in that one

I also found the race not so spectacular as other Australian races. But it was only the first race and I'm sure there'll be much more better ones soon. And after race 1, we already have one team whinging and whining just because they were beaten by 2 Mercedes powered cars and 2 Ferrari powered cars . I mean when Red Bull were winning in the 4 year period before this current Hybrid era, they were not moaning. (Ok fair enough, the field was more close but still...) There is no point for Christian Horner & Helmut Marko to start pointing fingers at Renault after one race. One race doesn't define your season and Renault still have the most engine development tokens of any engine maker. I also read comments from Horner that the Ferrari PU is making the difference for Sauber as to why Nasr finished ahead of Ricciardo. I too can't see how it can only just be the engine, there has to be more to the improved performance of the Sauber. It really baffles me how this team are pointing fingers at Renault when it's an all round package. You can't just blame Renault for the poor performance, you can also make improvements to the car too. It's really good to see Ferrari revived once more and good to see they have a lot more power from the engine. I have a feeling that this would be the team that may potentially have a chance of stopping Mercedes. The battle between them and Williams is probably going to be more intense than Hamilton vs Rosberg. I also understand that McLaren won't have a new cooling unit until the Spanish GP so will run less power for the moment. It was still really good to see them actually complete a race distance! Hopefully Alonso returns soon. I also hope to see Valterri Bottas back at Malaysia, a shame he had to miss out yesterday

Agreed, the "best of the rest" battle will be the best parts to watch this season, particularly Williams vs Ferrari vs Red Bull. IMO RBR seem unhappy at being dethroned by Merc lol. Hope to see Alonso and Bottas back in the seat soon.

Someone should remind Horner he didn't suggest detuning his engines when Vettel was winning.

Sebastian Vettel has won today's Malaysian Grand Prix, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. I think Ferrari will be the main threat to Mercedes this year, however, i think Mercedes will win in China, as its a circuit that they are strong in. Both McLaren cars retired and Roberto Merhi managed to complete the race for Manor. Will Stevens did not start due to a fuel system issue

Great race today lots of drama. But most importantly I'm really impressed with Ferrari the way they used the advantage of their strategy and single handledly won the race and know what was starting to be a boring season could be an interesting one, just hope that Williams can catch up with Ferrari and Mercedes and a shame that Red Bull has dropped of the pace completely this season as well.

Can we expect more sour grapes from Horner?

Not really a spectacular race today in China as it was in Malaysia, but Lewis Hamilton vs Nico Rosberg mind games have kicked off again. Nico was complaining about Lewis holding him up. Well if he was why didn't you make the overtake then, Nico? . I don't seem to recall him ever passing Lewis Hamilton genuinely since Mercedes took over at the top, and since that clash at Spa he's only beaten Lewis once. Safe to say Hamilton has the edge now? Looks like it... Elsewhere another solid performance from Ferrari, didn't think they'll quite repeat what they did but again it's confirming a pretty amazing step from where they were in Abu Dhabi. Good shout out to Max Verstappen too before his failure, such a shame for such a brilliant drive. I really hope he continues to perform as well as he does for a 17 year old. .
