Passed a bus stop on Commercial Road today..I believe it was St Mary's and St Michaels church stop and noticed an information sheet describing changes to the 115 bus route which will be cut back to Stepney Arbour Square from the 2nd of Januar. The changes should only last a few months to accomodate the Super Cycle Highway construction.
Hopefully, all the bus routes will make their way back to Aldgate by the end of this year. It seems like the only buses to pass through Aldgate will be 25, 42, 78, 100 and 135.

Hundreds, possibly thousands, of people will be affected by that cutback. AIUI there is not a lot of capacity in the peaks on the 15 and 135 so how on earth are people going to get into the City? The situation with buses at Aldgate is now well beyond a joke. Local authorities should not be allowed to inflict this much chaos on people. Just think we've still got CSH works through Farringdon, Parliament Square and Tower Hill to endure yet.

If Aldgate had been planned properly and the CS2 works planned properly then none of this nonsense would have been needed. I wonder if any of these routes will ever resume serving Aldgate as a lot of cut backs don't seem to have been reinstated as they were promised e.g 3, 8, 15, 53, 148. I also wonder how many people will now switch over to the 25 instead of the 115 to get to Central London from East London not helping on the already Overcrowded route. If this continues I wouldn't be surprised if the 135 also gets cut back.

And it's quite possible that the changes to the bus network will be permanent as there is no real comfirmation from TFL that the routes will be returned to their terminus. I think this is the way forward with TFL; silent cutbacks without consultation as it's unlikely many residents or businesses will complain. Even if people did complain then TFL will use the same excuse that the cutbacks are temporary and when no one even remembers that the buses used to go to a certain destination then why bother returning it? No one has really complained at the number 8 or 15 which have both been cut back drastically within the last 5 years.

Some people have tremendously long memories. Some people are good at asking awkward questions.

Well not that shocked to be honest as I see loads of turns to Stepney last week. What I don't get is things seem to be getting worse as the works near completion! Will Arbour Square be able to manage all the buses is it not in a residential area?

Shock horror the TfL Service Changes document has been updated now that TfL has recovered from Christmas and New Year over indulgence Interesting changes - 132 frequency increases that Egg had already told us about. (23 Jan) - B12 gets an AM peak boost to x15 for an hour (23 Jan) - 487 gets a M-S frequency increase to x12. (5 March) Presumably the route is still struggling capacity wise but a frequency increase will simply generate more ridership.

Another update to the TfL service changes notice and some interesting changes
30 Jan - yet another increase for the W3 service.
13 Feb - major temporary changes to route 25 due to the disaster that is Aldgate.
20 Feb - evening service boost for the 265. Presumably in advance of the new contract starting.

A few other additions such as the 381 with a 'New timetable to improve reliability following introduction of 20mph speed limits along the route. PVR changed to 19.'
I assume this is when it may start the hybridization process.

The 51 eventually gets a new timetable at night giving roughly 50 mins running times with 10 mins stand each end

Has the 98 returned to Holborn? I've seen a few VPs today at Red Lion Square.

Has the 98 returned to Holborn? I've seen a few VPs today at Red Lion Square. There are roadworks on Southampton Row that have caused all sorts of diversions between Bloomsbury and Russell Square. From TfL Realtime News

With route 25, they haven't even considered the Stepney and Whitechapel residents, how horrible. Why not terminate these journeys at the Royal London Hospital, or renumber these journeys 25A or 525 and extend them up Cambridge Heath Road to terminate at someone like Bethnal Green Chest Hospital or Ash Grove
