On the disruptions page of the TfL website:
Changes to Routes R68 and R70 from Saturday 9 September: These routes will be temporarily revised until further notice due to major roadworks at Manor Circus. Route R68 will operate between Hampton Court and Twickenham, York Street only. Route R70 will be extended to operate between Hampton, The Avenue and Kew Retail Park, in place of the R68 between Twickenham and Kew Retail Park.

I'm still disappointed they couldn't find a solution in the Richmond area, as the Richmond-Twickenham section will now be vastly underbussed. I am interested to see how the R70 loads in Kew as it is technically a frequency increase when compared to the R68. Always thought 15 minutes was perfect so could be a quieter end for the route.

I'm sure one day Surrey CC will feel that subsising a 30 mins daily service is more excessive then they want to pay out. In Surrey a Mon to Sat hourly service is more what they consider acceptable. The 166 is an example of that compared with the london section. The 465 is busier than that. Up to Leatherhead, absolutely, not sure in my experience beyond that to Dorking. Having said that, I’d love the 465 to remain as it is, not least because it’s a nice little anomaly of a route that really does delve pretty deeply into the countryside.

I wonder why the R70 needs to drop. Surely the resources saved from the R68 could have been used to atleast maintain the current freq plus an extra peak journey at the busiest time for Orleans School.

That's not the only method of communication though - I'm not familiar with the area so not sure but are there no notices on bus stops? Maybe frequent users of the route have received emails? I imagine that most people looking at the page you reference have a specific interest in buses. There are much more useful ways of communicating changes to customers who need to know about them rather than updating a web page that most people aren't likely to check, especially as this is quite a localised change. Targeted emails linked to Oyster usage would be my first thought. No information on bus stops I live round the corner from the R68 route. There will be Lots of confused passengers come Saturday. Same on the bits of R68/R70 I saw - I went to Richmond Station so there certainly should be notices there if nowhere else. Only notice was about overnight closures in the town centre.

Regarding the Twickenham stand situation, it looks like the R68 will stand at Station Yard as Journey Planner says it will still stop at York Street, which would be impossible from Arragon Road. That's good, at least that will mean there is a same stop interchange with routes 490 and R70 in both directions. Currently you would have to get the 33 to Poulett Gardens/Popes Grotto and change.

Update on R68/R70 changes. First of I think communication of these changes has been awful and no idea why Tfl have not told anyone about it. I have spoken to a driver saying it will be temporary only due to Manor Circus works and route R68 will be cut back to Twickenham for 10 months with R70 being extended to Kew retail park. Is the old stand at Twickenham Station car park still available for use? R68 is currently using this stand and not Aragon Road

Terrible advertising of the R68/R70 changes. Nothing on the tfl website until today and that was when I searched for the route and clicked 'status alert for the R68'
Even the tfl map for the R68 has it still going to Kew

It's under status / buses by searching for the route number. This is the most logical place an average passage would look IMO.

At Kew Retail Park - The bus stop flag still says R68
- The bus timetable is still for the R68
- Absolutely no information whatsoever that the R68 isn't terminating here
- Absolutely no information whatsoever that the R70 is terminating here instead
- Two R70s parked up on the stand

What do you expect ? Some bus stops haven’t had timetables updated since 2016.

Are the R70s even correctly blinded in the Kew direction, or are they banditised?
